First, I hope you have your BSNL username and password.

As niraj said, you can reset your modem/router. There will be a reset button on the back panel of the modem/router. Using a blunt pointed object press this button and KEEP IT PRESSED FOR HALF A MINUTE. The modem must be powered on during this time.

Once the modem/router is reset, all settings are lost. You can now reconfigure the modem by following one of the many guides in this forum.

What is your modem and how are you connected to it - USB or LAN?

If you are connected by USB, is your modem recoginized by XP. Try http://192.168.1.2.

ZTE ... which one? ZTE has many models. You must be having a quick start guide and user guide. Try to follow them, step by step. Because if you are unable to get to page 192.168.1.1, there could be many other things that could be wrong. Some modems' default page is 192.168.0.1. So please refer back to your manuals.

    hello carbon
i think the main reason for not able to open the routers configuration page is that the modem is not detected by windows ,when you are connected to the modem/router you should receive a pop-up in the system tray saying newly discovered UPnP devices ,if this pop up is received then you will be able to open the routers configuration page.
if the router is not discovered by windows then enter the ip address manually type these
    ip:192.168.1.4
    subnet mask:255.255.255.0
    default gateway:192.168.1.1
    primary DNS:192.168.1.1

NOTE:the default gateway and primary DNS should be same unless you are using open DNS
i hope this would solve your problem
    thanks

By the way you said you had reverted the password of the modem 192.1.1..... but did u revert the password of your bsnl login? Both modem password and bsnl login password should be same in order to get connection. try this perhaps should work.

@carbon, there are many guides here. Your modem will also have a Quick Start Guide and a (detailed) user guide. You will have to follow those instructions. If you are unable to do that yourself, please call the BSNL technician.
