| Platinum Member | You are probably refering to the way we power down a PC: Shutdown and then switch power off. Now you are wondering whether there is "power-down" method for modem also. Well, there isn't. There is absolutely no problem in simply switching off the modem. p/s. A suggestion: Please use a context sensitive subject like "Proper way to shut down a modem" instead of just "Help!!!!"

Rep Power: 3 | @arun i know exactly what you are talking about. wen i got my connection (i live in a desolated area) the damn bsnl guys didnt even set it up. i somehow managed to set it up and i did exactly what u used to do-press button, use broadband, switch off(press button). then my broadbad blacked ouy for a month (and i paid 500 bucks!!). then this guy helps me and this is what i do know: -go to 192.168.1.1 -wan -ppoe, enter username password ok -wait for a minute, check in status. if connected rock'n'roll else keep pressing "ok" till it gets connected.(takes 5minutes complete, by the watch sometimes) now mr.senior member above me, is that the 'right' way or is there another more sensible way (mine is irritating to all in my family :-x ) |

Please note 'Save Changes' or such button does not save the settings to the flash memory. Instead, these are stored for that session only. Visit your router web setup page. Inside the "Tools" or such menu there will be option to "Save Settings and Reboot". For instance, this option is available under Toos --> Misc. for UT-300R2U modem. I have been switching on and switching off the modem by the mains switch. | |
