    Default my first bill

    Guys

I have finally received the bill from BSNL. I had received BB connection from 2nd Jan 2008. Plan Home 500.

    The bill is as follows:

    Broadband charges: 02/1 to 29/2 966.67
    Modem 1200.00
    Sales Tax @ 4% 48.00
    Phone rental 1/12/07 to
    31/01/08 240.00

    Service Tax 12.36 on 1206.67(966.67+240) 149.14

From the above it is very clear that I have not been charged for any extra download( I was within limit). I had downloaded 30 GB during happy hours. Secondly they are calculating Rs.500 for every 30 days. Accordingly they have taken only 966.67. They are also taking running month BB charges in advance.

    Hats off to BSNL

Please come with your own details for common knowledge.

I wonder how come you are getting your bills bimonthly. BSNL used to send the bills monthly for those who are having broadband unlike regular landline bills which is what is being sent bimonthly. And how came they have charged you with usages charges till february 29th too?

If you read FAQ you will know that monthly bills issued to those who exceed more than 3000 calls per month. . For broadband they charge in advance. From my bill it is clear that they have not charged for any extra usage as I had downloaded 30 GB of data(during happy hours). I was worried about that. I had given the above details to show the new customers like me what to expect in their first bill because such information is not available anywhere.

I don't think they have made any mistake in my bill. So they there is no question of recovery. I was within limit for the month of January 2008. I put up the details in this forum for all new customers who are constantly wondering about their first bill. For the month of February 2008, they will debit me with usage charges (if any extra download over above limit) in the next bill. The only thing I was a little confused was about the advance debit of feb08.

I expect broadband rent for March + Excess usage charge for February (if at all any) in the next month bill.

BSNL billing software is different in each Telecom District.

It is heard that centralized billing (CDR billing) will be introduced soon in BSNL.
