Thread: how to configure the NetGear DG834G V3 wireless router with BSNL broad band conection

Hi All,

I have BSNL broad band connection. They have provided me with 2 user ids adn passwords. I am not sure which oen to use.
The next probelm is my Netgear router is not able to configure.
earlier the problem was that ADSL link was not coming . but that problem was resolved.
Does any one have steps hwo to set up the BSNL broadband with
Netgear DG 834GV3 wireless router?

I too have the same model of Netgear ADLS Router. Its very simple to configure. Will post the detailed steps later during the day.

one id is for connecting to net & other is portal id(something like abc12345678901) which is used for login into bsnl portal & check your daily usage.portal id will take at lest 4-5 days to activate & until then when you login you will get a blank page.here is the link for bsnl portal(this link is only for new customers)---

Do not use the wizard to configure the Netgear Router. Do it manually

Enter PCI =0
PVC = 35
Select LLC
Modulation = Auto
Select ppp0E

Enter Username & Password

Rest leave as it is. If u have changed anything else, first reset the modem and then configure.

User Id's:
You have got two user id's:

a) One will be like this <first three chars of your name><some three digit random number><date you got the internet connection in ddmmyyyy format>. This is a portal id. It is used to check your usage, manage/change your password, look at requests, etc.

b) The second user id is your actual BB user id. This will be used to login to internet.

c) Password for both is the word 'password'.


Router Configuration:
Most Netgear routers have more or less a similar user interface.

Hi All,

I had a NetGear Wi-Fi Router that I had configured and was using with Airtel.
Now I have taken a BSNL Broadband connection and on tryign to connect this same NetGear Router to the BSNL modem, I am unable to use the BSNL services.
Kindly suggest what needs to be done.
Does the Router have to be reconfigured for a different service provider?

Only change is that you need to set VPI/ VCI values to 0 -35.

Could you please guide me how to change the values?

Log in to your modem, check the WAN page. You will find an entry 0 -30 or 0 -32 (not sure which one is Airtel. You will find one of these). Use the " Edit" button, in the landing page, you will see an option to enter the values.

VPI/VCI for BSNL 0 and 35 only this change needed.
( for airtel 1 and 32 )
or
RESET the modem to factory settings and try Dialer mode.
If still not connected
Try configuration wizard. presume model is DG834G.
