Thread: Problem configuring Type II Modem

I got BSNL Home 500 plan couple of months back. I use laptop and hence bought Type II modem which has wireless in it. I was not aware that Type II is newly introduced by BSNL. I have been facing few problems since the day I got the connection. The broadband works beautifully for most of the browsing work. The speed is fantastic! Need to get the following items fixed to make it working 100%.

Following are the problems.
- I cant access hotmail/MSN messenger from the connection
- I cant access download.com/cnet.com sites. looks like something to do with the DNS server entries.
- I can't seem to check my usage. The data.bsnl.in site load up the login page. After login I get blank pages.

I am hoping some help form this fantastic group.

Well ur first problem is similar to me. I can use the MSN Massanger only for logging in. after login the MSN signs me off automatically after 8-10 min. i tried every trick i know, but all was futile.

U able to login into the MSN?

MSN Messenger works fine for me.

Try changing your DNS server settings to OpenDNS (208.67.222.222/208.67.220.220) or level 3 DNS servers (4.2.2.1/4.2.2.2)

U are getting the blank page because, they havent yet activated your portal id and password on the portal. Wait for a few more days, by then it would be activated.

BTW, The MSN does not work for me at all.
