Hi,
You have been awesome in providing quick heal. But I have been trying all these read this post yesterday. Spend 7pm - 12pm last nite doing all this. No success.
A good step by step tutorial may help.
I will try till Sunday,else deposit this back to BSNL and ask for a different modem. Good thing is that they have been very prompt and I got modem in 2 days, applied saturday and got on monday. But no customer service sucks.

In the meanwhile you have other tricks up your sleeves or need other data from me to help, I will gleefully send that

The only thing I did not try was to update the firmware.

No problem. start with this link after resetting the router.
try Lan connection first. get success. then try WIFI.

Ess - please explain what do you mean by LAN configuration
you mean setting those TCP/IP config IP address etc

Presume you have the system connnected properly.
In your router there are two options.
A cable from Router RJ45 thick cable goes to ethernet Port of your laptop.
That is the lan connection.
This enables us to check, whether your computer settings are Ok.
Then the wifi link.
If the connection had worked earlier, No changes required in computer settings.

2.Post the ipconfig /all data.
Copy/paste or retype

Sorry for the long data.
I will try to do that and post back the results in 10 minutes

Yes I tried
but still i can access via wire as u can see i am writing to you
but not by wireless
it still shows local connection
when I clik on the red cross on vistas network connections it says u seem to have a DNS problem while i run diagnose and fix

Help Help .... !!!!
