problem is after typing "o 192.168.1.1" and entering the login name, am unable to provide the password ie., whatever i am typing is not being dispalyed on the screen and neither the cursor is moving.
this is exactly what happens when you use command prompt.after entering username press enter then carefully type password.nothing will be shown on screen & neither the cursor will move.

so what does that mean? is that some kind of problem while using the command prompt? it did reboot once the first time.

now that this has happened i wonder whether router script for rebooting will work fine.

you can check if the script works by scheduling it to reboot at a time you can see it in action.if it does then no problem.also telnet does not show cursor because it does not support it when telnet is accessed using command prompt.if you want a better screen like windows & cursor use hyper terminal instead.it is in accessories---communications.

I am looking for a script file / exe such that I can shutdown /close my modem and restart it when I wake up the PC thrugh scheduler. rebooting alone wont help I think.

I tried to run the script. But its status shows waiting for Password: and waiting...waiting...waiting....

Here is the Telnet window output after executing the script.
Note that the user name and password are right.

tried even that. No use. To be precise, the problem is when the script sent the password. After SEND "admin\m" , the modem ouput should be "> " no quotes included. But its not coming. AS a result the remaining WAIT, its not taking.I tried different types of Wait commands. like WAIT ">", WAIT "*", WAIT "> " etc. not working. When I press enter key, then the remaining part of the script is executing without any trouble and modem is getting rebooted.
Please let me know what should I give in WAIT command

after the password, \m works as enter key. but its not taken by modem. Hence ">" prompt is not coming. When I press manually , then it goes to prompt.

u can make a ppope connection in u'r royter which make the router to connect automatically when u switch on the router.

An application called "Auto power on" can help u to hibernate u'r pc and wake it up at u'r requires time.

Try to use torrents to get the best out of bsnl.

    Hi,
thanks for the link. It says I need to configur the connection as Bridge mode. This is not practical for me since I have only windows firewall. And I want to keep the connection ans PPOE. Somebody told me there is a way to configur PPoe also in dial on demand.
And one more thing, I dont have rasdial.exe at the location specified by the author in the link.

Help me to configure my PPoe connection in dial on demand so that when my PC up from hibernation, it dials and start a new connection session. So that I dont need to reboot the modem.

    regards,
    Anand

Default Auto scheduler for Night usage.

    @anandkrishnantc
Congrats for devising a simple batch file,
Which starts the browser FireFox and your modem.
No details/ link/ or annexure given for others benefit.

just use autohotkey & open the modem page page with reboot option.automate the process of rebooting the modem when you click on reboot button on modem page.take a look here for some idea about rebootinfo.cgi in IE(something similar should apply for firefox too):

    HI,

    C:\Progra~1\Mozill~1\firefox.exe -new-tab http://adminassword@192.168.1.1/rebootinfo.cgi

save the text as a batchfile. name it whatever you want <your name>.bat
in the Scheduled tasks, make a new task to run this batchfile at 2 AM (or whenever you want a restart a new session). Thats it. Make sure that you have another task to start torrent client also (if you want to start downloading.).
And I hope you know how to setup a scheduled task to wakeup and run at a particular time :-)
    Happy downloading..

By default telnet is disabled in VISTA.
    You have to enable it.

scheduled reboot of my sl2_141 modem via i.e.
I am using windows vista on my laptop.
I have tried everyting to keep my modem
on and schedule reboot of modem at night.
But i never succeded. so i had to use the dial up method.
telnet , imrans broadband helper were of no use in vista.
    .
But yesterday while doing reboot of modem via IE.
i saw the address in address in address bar.

i bookmarked it and made it as my HOME PAGE.
i created a task in task scheduler
and made it to run. and it rebooted.
    the address i used was

    http: //192.168.1.1/rebootinfo.cgi

the only demerit of this method is that i cant use IE for browsing.
