Anything that is light on resources, reasonably fast and free would get my vote. Hence it goes to µTorrent.

uTorrent is just a software to download using torrents.there are various other similar softwares available but 2 most popular ones are uTorrent & azureus.uTorrent is very small(only ~300kb)while azureus is 6MB & azureus runs on java & hence consumes much more CPU/RAM.here are guides for uTorrent.read these especially beginner's guide to get an idea about torrents.

Default best p2ps are

1.utorrent
2.Ares

utorrent is good for torrents, because its light and fast, the s/w is updated every once in a while.

Ares is best p2p bcos u can search for any old movies that are not available in most of the torrent banks.

Also u can add a torrent in ares, which has a built in bittorrent client.

and one more thing is ares unlike torrent doesnt require a 1:1 ratio maintenance, u can unshare the file as soon as it is downloaded.

so if u r member of a forum that follows 1:1 ratio standards, use torrents,

for english movies and albums ares is the best.
for torrents utorrent is well and good as far as i am concerned.

I had been using these two softwares for simultaneous download, With 500 home plan i had downloaded to a max of 5210mb in a single day i.e 2am to 8am

Default Its true

am in office currently. ill take a screenshot of that page from dataone bandwidth finder and post that attachment..

but as u say the download speed has gone down now recently for past 2 months, i suppose thats bcos of the increase in users.

but i reached a max of more than 5000mb one night. ill post the proof soon.

actually it depends on how many users are downloading at that moment.in small cities where people don't or rarely use 2-8AM slot you may be able to get 220-230KBps.
