I have tired all the options as suggested by you but could not get the desired result, i.e. could not connect with my e51 and wireless router.
Then I had to manuualy assign an ip address in the phone and gateway address was set as 192.168.1.1 then it started to work.
The setting was given by one of the BSNL employees.

No my DHCP server option was on , as my laptop connects with automatic ip address whereas my e51 did not.

thanks so much abhijit....i'm using a ZTE wifi modem & was dying to connect my nokia e51 thru wlan. After making the changes as suggested by you, the damn thing is working yaar...moreover, now i can also connect my playstation portable thru wlan..bingo...apun ki to lottery lag gayi boss...thanks again. And yes, for people who r still struggling, kindly note that u also need to define an access point in ur cell, and then edit the settings..just make sure that the WLAN network mode shud be selected to "infrastructure" (though i didnt try ad-hoc as infrastructure is working fine :-) )same goes for the PSP too!!!

regards,

I have a E51 and I have done as you have pointed out.
I get "No Gateway Reply".
I have a WA1003A wifi modem from Dataone, BSNL.
What settings have you used in E51?

I have managed to get wifi running.
The problem was that DHCP server was not
enabled on modem/router.

Another problem..:-(
How to use DNS...It is a bit slow.
In E51 I have option of DNS but desktop
cannot use DNS now in PPPoE mode.
