    Default Problems with DataOne 900UL

    Hi Everybody

I live in Kolkata and the place I live in has only BSNL Broadband service.
After running around, their offices for more than a month I got Broadband installed at my place. I opted for the HOME 900UL .

I have the service for 5 days now.
The first two days the service was good. Was able to download at 35 to 45 KPBS. Downloaded several files from rapidshare.

From 25 Feb onwards , things got messy. Browsing speed came down.
Download speed was at 25-30 kpbs , but the most problematic thing is that my service gets disconnected every 5-7 minutes.
Today the speed is slower than even dial-up.

Has anybody experiencing such problems ?
    Any ideas ?

    Thanks
    D-Tech

The best thing to do would be call bsnl broadband customer care and ask them to check the noise level on your line (they can do it remotely from their end) and if there is too much noise they will send some one out to check out the line.

Have you installed new stuff on your line by any chance? changes splitters or a new joint in the line?

It could be due to some days, this issue will persist. If you tried it at other days? By the way, with unlimited plans you get only that speed, and that's the reason i changed my plan from unlimited to home 500 c!

it could be possible if you have done any changes in your current telephone network at home.. all telephones must be placed after the splitter.. this will give good speeds!!!and frequent disconnections also will not be there!!

    Hi Guys
    Thanks for quick response.

I have call the customer care and explained the problem. They recorded the problem and gave a "docket number".
As for installing any other stuff , I didn't do anything .

Here is how my setup is.
The telephone wire comes out of the wall socket and goes into the splitter. From the other end of the splitter one of the wire goes into the modem and the other to the telephone set.
I fed the username and password directly into the modem . So I don't have to give the username and password every time I log on the Net. I just switch on the modem , when I get the link the "Link" LED glows green. After the my UserID and password are autheticated by BSNL servers the link LED glows Orange. And then I can surf the Net.

With this setup, things ran smoothy for two days. Got D/L speed of 35-45 kpbs and upload speed of 15-20 kpbs.
From third day onwards , things got messy ( as I said before ).
Downloading Antivirus updates, ( 6-7 mb at the most )is a challenge.

Today I directly connected the telephone wire from the wall socket to the modem , thinking maybe some thing is wrong with the splitter. But got the same result. Max five minutes of connectivity.

Then I returned to the original setup. Same result.

I think there is some problem with the line, internet switches ( or whatever they call them) or servers of BSNL.
    My side is O.K.

    Regards
    D-Tech

PS:- I got disconnected two times while replying to this message. Third time is the charm , I guess.

it also could be a faulty splitter.. i remember the same thing happened to my friend..he complained to bsnl.. and they replaced the splitter.. either telephone line problem or splitter..mostly splitter.. i think bsnl will replace it if it is so!!
