    Cool Upload limit

    Hi,
I am going to take a new connection for Video+Voice chat. I think positive about Home500C+ plan. Because in Home 500 plan, phone rental will be extra.

Can somebody tell me about the upload speed I will get. In my older Airtel 512 Kbps connection, download and upload both were upto 512 Kbps. Is this the case with BSNL too?

Does 2.5GB data limit include upload or not?

    Thanks in advance.

upload speed is 1/4th of your connection speed meaning 512kbps though you will get lesser speeds than this as it is the max. upload speed.
YES!bsnl counts both upload & download for calculating your total data transfer & include it in your limit.

2 mbps is quite good for video+audio!!depends on how much you are going to use video and audio chat.. if you are a regular user then 2.5gb may not do!!

    Cool

    Hi superprash2003,
I use it for 1 hour daily. With my present Reliance FWP connection, I am not even able to talk properly( don't think about video). Reliance BroadNet will be available at my coloney only after 6-8 months.
What is your suggestion for broadband plan? In my locality there are not many broadband users and BSNL telephone exchange is about 500 meter away(line length max 1 Km), should I expect blazing fast speed ???

But I am concerned about data transfer limit.

as i said before voice/video chatting also depends on upload speed too & bsnl's upload speed is 1/4th of download speed but still it is 512kbps max though you may not get this much upload speed.you can expect blazing fast speed as far as downloading goes but for uploading don't expect much meaning your incoming voice/video would be good but outgoing voice/video would not be as smooth.

im not sure about the usage..typically it is 1mb per minute for voice chat... so 1hr=60mb.. for 30 days.. 60*30=1800mb..voice itself is approx 1.8gb.. but as i said.. it may vary from software to software.. but its typically 1mb per min.. so i think it would be a little difficult to adjust with 2.5gb...i have tried voice through a 256kbps connection.. it was crystal clear.. no problem at all...so im sure with 2mbps you will get a good voice/video converstation ...
but considering the usage.. i think 2.5gb may not do...what you could do.. is download a bandwidth monitor.. stop all other downloads, close all windows.. only switch on video/voice.. and use it for 5 min or so.. and accordingly calculate the usage in 1 min.. thereby you can calculate how much you will require for 1 month... and then accordingly choose your bsnl plan

    Lightbulb

    Hi,
I suppose plan switching is not possible before 3 months, thats make my life difficult. I am not able to test the connection and then decide.
For usage I have created a topic in Skype forum:
    Bandwidth usage - Skype Forums

As per this, I need to cut short my video usage as per bandwidth meter information.

I have some confusion abt the plan, does Home500 C+ plan include rental for phone line or not? Otherwise I will opt for Home 500. Other plan in my mind is Business 700. It has 4GB transfer limit.

I will get specific information from BSNL office tomorrow.

well as i said it all depends on usage.. find out the correct usage.. calculate approximately and then choose your plan
