Thread: Help needed to automate downloads

Hi, can any one help me with automating night downloads. I have configured my modem in PPPoE mode. To connect I am now dialing with my username and pass.

Can i keep the modem on all night. I can then schedule my system to turn on (from hibernation) at 2am and then dial using the dialer.

Will there be any data transfer between my modem and the server when i am keeping the modem on, before 2am when my pc is off?

yes, there are scripts where you can access the router automatically and reboot it at 2:15am and 7:45am.. it has been discussed earlier.. but unfortunately its not a sticky thread so i cant find it.. i think such threads should be placed on the first page always.. so users can find it..
anyways... what is your modem's model no??and yes you can keep the modem on 24*7*365 no problems...no there shouldnt be any data transfers

Do i need to use any script for restarting the modem? Is there any problem if i am not restarting modem but simply connect at 2.05 with my user name and pass?

connecting at 2:05 is good enough!!
