    Default Modem Drivers

    hi there,
BSNL has just launched its dataone service in my area.
they supplied me a ZTE ZXDSL 831AII adsl modem.

But when i am connecting it with USB... it searchs for drivers and finally failed to do so.
even MODEM has no Drivers CD with it?
Can any one provide me the drivers ..
and plz as i am new to this connection..please tell me how to configure it as i am running a cyber cafe with 10 systems and a HUB..

    thanks in anticipation plz..

if you have a LAN card then better use it instead of USB.. any reason for using only USB??
and for your cyber cafe.. just make sure your modem is set to dhcp and specify a range eg. 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.15 and then connect it to the hub.. and connect all other pcs to the hub!!

Do away with the usb cable as superprash2003 earlier advised you.. You wont need any cd or drivers while using an ethernet cable.

then turn the power on on your thinggie and go to http://192.168.1.1/ and you should be able to do your settings part.

*** I dont like your idea of using this phone number as your id.. I am going to change it for you.. let me know what do you want as your id. And we dont allow e-mail addresses or messenger id's to be posted in here.***

    Thanks

Does your computer say local area connected? (Thats if you have taken the first step of creating connection in your network connections option)

If you havent done that then just go to network connections and click on the option which says create a new connection and just follow the steps.

Give us a shout if you still have any issues.

**Just out of curisoty : You are using an MTNL cdma wireless connection right now and you have a BSNL land line connection with an adsl connection on it? I didnt know Mtnl and BSNL networks overlapped each other.. or you somewhere on the border of NCR?

A very big thanks to TANMAY for being so considerate and providing the drivers needed.

You can now try the usb way as well after installing the drivers.

    for this error :

Check your TCP/IP settings on your computer first :
    IP Address=192.168.1.10
    Subnet Mask= 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway=192.168.1.1
    DNS= 61.1.96.69 and 61.1.96.71
If all this seems ok and your error still persists then shout back we will look at other possibilities.

Your settings are all ok ...

This might sound stupid but could you reboot both your modem and pc and try connecting again. Give about a min or so after your modem is on before you try to reconnect.

from what i can see.. you are using bridge mode...try changing it to ppoe mode.. type 192.168.1.1 then look for WAN settings.. change it from bridge mode to PPOE mode in the username type yourusername@dataone.in(if you are a old user).. or yourusername@bsnl.in(if you are a new user).. or just yourusername(incase the above 2 dont work)... obv you have to replace yourusername with your bsnl username...then type password...then save/reboot...then you wouldnt need to dial to get connected to the internet.. just switch on your modem and you can start using the internet..
