    Hi just4kix,
    Got the issue resolved ...all the mess was because of MTU specified.
    Then i reduced it to 1400 and all stuff works fine ...
    Thanks for teaching me so much .Really appreciate ur effort. Thanks.

    For everyone else to know what issue i was facing please check the thread

    "How to set Modem in Bridged mode and wireless router in PPoE mode ".

    U will get the info on that thread.

    Hi Shriniket, I did explicitly highlight that MTU should be set to 1492. I also mentioned to check about MTU.

    As I said earlier in the other thread, a very simple mistake must be made somewhere. The thing is that the router guide should be followed word by word.

    Anyway, good that the matter is finally sorted out.

    Ya sure ....actually i believe unless u have problems u dont get to learn ...hence i keep hunting for problems .....the connection was working if i would have used the modem in pppoe mode and router in bridged mode ....but thinking in the reverse way got me to learn a lot ...about it all.

    Hence i would like to urge people to think the other way round so that they go on progressing in the study aspect of everything that they come accros with.

    Default Please help

    Hi I have UT300R2U modem from BSNL and Netgear WGR614 V6 router.

    I'm done with the first part of configuring Wi-fi....i.e putting the modem in bridge mode. I created a connection and dial using my computer it connects to the internet properly.

    But I'm not able to configure my router according to the document attached in this thread.I'm not able to do the LAN IP setup. Once i enter the details and click save "page cant be displayed" comes...it is not able to locate 192.168.1.1

    Please help me with the second part a bit clearly..

    Thank you in advance...

    The UT300R2U and Netgear 614 must be on different IP subnets. If the UT300R2U's internal IP address is 192.168.1.1 then the Netgear must have an address such as 192.168.2.1 (that is anything other than 192.168.1.0 to 192.168.1.255). Many people forget to do this.

    How to change the subnet for Netgear? Could you please let me know the procedure? If you can post me a detailed procedure it would be helpful. Please post the procedure for the UT300R2U modem (because there is no wizard in this modem) and Netgear WGR614 V6.
    I cud not succeed with the IP settings only... Please send me a detailed document on how to configure please...My id is vikranth_n@yahoo.com....

    Thank you

    For UT-300R2U
    If you are not having the Wizard, go to the WAN settings and enter the following:
    VPI=0
    VCI=35
    Connection Type = Bridge
    Encapsulation = LLC
    DHCP = Enabled

    For netgear router, when I meant that IP address must be in different subnet, it refers to the internal (LAN) IP address of the modem. Do not confuse this with 'subnet mask'. Subnet mask must be 255.255.255.0.

    Hi,
    U will need to navigate to the Router configuration page then enter the Advanced section on the left and in this section u will find LAN IP Setup tab.
    Here is where u need to change the default address for the Netgear router.
    Dont forget to apply the settings and recheck them.
    Let us know if u need any further support.

    Hi friend, sorry to sound like an "obnoxious little weed".

    But have you really gone through the guide? Every thing is spelled out (for the Netgear router). Suggest you read it word by word.

    Hi friends,

    I have gone thru the manual word by word. But my problem is I'm not able to change the LAN IP settings and apply. Once I click apply, it shows the page cannot be displayed page. Everything what you people say I can clearly understand. I dont know if its a problem with my router or something else.

    that could mean that it has been changed successfully..suppose your old ip of netgear was 192.168.0.1 and you change it to 192.168.1.1 .. now if you try to access 192.168.0.1 it will obv give a page not found error

    Actually router page will/should automatically change to the new IP address, i.e. from http://192.168.1.1 to http://<new ip address>.

    @theriyadu, The basic principle is that two routers cannot have the an address in the same subnet (if the ip address of the router is 192.168.1.1 then the subnet is all addresses in the range 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.255).

    If you are facing problems changing the lan ip address of Netgear router, leave it as is and change the lan ip address of the UT-300R2U (go to LAN settings).

    p/s. Post number 1000, probably the second person after 'admin' to reach this milestone.

    People,

    Thanks for your responses. Now everything is proper. But still I'm unable to access wi-fi. I followed the manual step-by-step. And each step is done properly.

    Let me know this alone. Should I connect the ethernet cable from UT-300R2U to the Internet port of Netgear or to one of the LAN ports?
    The description of what I have done is as follows:

    1) Modem is set under bridge mode..I'm sure this connection is proper since I created a new connection to dial and I'm able to dial properly with my username and password

    2)All settings for the Netgear are done according to the manual. The mistake I did was I used http://192.168.1.1/basicsetting.htm to access the router page. Plsssss dont do this. Instead use http://www.routerlogin.net/basicsetting.htm to change your router settings. Any changes made to the LAN IP setup will only then be properly reflected.

    Despite doing all things properly I'm unable to access Wi-Fi....Please do help me...What could be the other things which I need to look into?
