Thread: IP not assigned to my computer

Hello,

I have BSNL 250 plan,ADSL with wi fi, i am using Acer Laptop brought 2 months back, i got the connection in january, but till now i have not received the bill, i logged a grievience and they called up and told broadband bill comes once in 2 months.

from last week (till last week it was working fine) i am not able to connect to the internet, even though my wireless connection signal is excellent
when i try to repair the IP, i get a message saying that not able to complete assigning of IP,

by typing IPconfig i used to get 00.00.00.00
i tried to re install the driver by uninstalling, at the end of installation it gives message your hardware may not work properly as the installation was not complete

after this by ipconfig, i am getting media state.....media not connected

i tried removing automatically assign ip and entered manually ip, subnet mask and gateway, even then not able to connect..

anybody can help me out in solving this problem....

Not understood, what driver are you talking about.

Try connecting to router directly via LAN (RJ45) cable and re-test. Please post results.

just to make sure go to your modem's settings and check if DHCP is on!!

i was talking about LAN drivers, after reinstalling i was getting a message "was not completely installed and your hardware may not function properly"

i tried ipconfig/release and renew, but get a message cannot perform this action as your media is disconnected

when i say ipconfig, my wireless connection displays IP, subnet mask and gateway, but my local area connection shows
media state......... media disconnected.

i tried running winsockxpfix.exe, still didnt work
i tried refreshing winsock by command line, still didnt work..

please help me..
