Thread: BSNL BB giving extra usage!!

Hi...I have BSNL Broadband 250 plan. I have recently got a laptop and for that changed to wireless modem from wired modem. Now i find that usage is coming even when am not there at home and i have switched off my laptop and modem.Can I know why it happens? Or else do i need 2 change any settings in my laptop so that others cant use my connection?

enable WEP in your modem wifi setting & set a password without which no one can be able to connect to your wifi.

since your usage occurs even when your modem is switched off. it could be that somebody is misusing your account.. when you got your wifi modem, did you give back your wired modem? if so, did you reset it? if not, you never know with bsnl people,they might have not resetted it and somebody else is using your account!!

I have not given back my wired modem!!how can i find that someone is using my account?

well keep a track as to when you switch on and switch off your modem.. do this for a few days.. and compare it with the usage in the bsnl portal.. if it does not match somebody else is using your account!!

Well just change the passord of ur account.....keep password changing every month or so.....& just give a written applicaion complaint to Local BSNL office about this........such kind of docs help in future.

Just protect your wi-fi access with password or other secure modes to do that. your account is probably accessed by someone else nearby who connect to your connection and getting things downloaded at your cost. Be very careful, else you will end up with huge bill. protect it soon.
