    Default Appropriate Broadband Plan

I wish to opt for one of the BSNL broadband plan, but I am confused about the upload/DL limit. I wish to use it for gtalk, skype and surfing, no audio/video sharing. Please help me to select appropriate plan. I was thinking of BSNL Plan125 Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd- Latest News
which have limit of 150 MB per month.

    Thanks in Advance

BSNL Home 125 plan is too low. You are very likely to overrun your limits. My suggestion to you is go for Home 500 C plan (not Home 500 C+). It comes with no fixed line telephone rental and 175 free pulses @ one-India plan. The download limit is 1 GB and monthly cost is Rs. 500 + service tax. There is also night-time (2 AM to 8 AM) of free internet usage.

In my opinion this is a real value for money plan for small surfing, chatting, VOIP or Voice thru Skype/YM etc.

With 125 plan, your outgoing is Rs. 305/mth (Fixed Line = 180, BB = 125) + Voice call charges at your current rate. There is a very good chance that you will exceed the 150 MB limit (I am 99% sure of this) and you will pay 90p per MB of exceeded limit.

With 500 C plan, your outgoing is Rs. 500 + Voice calls - 175 free calls. With carefull monitoring of internet usage you are unlikely to exceed 1 GB but you will pay 90p per MB of exceeded limit.

Yes I will be using the internet for around 1 hour surfing and 30 min skype "talk". Is the Plan-250 appropriate for me? I already have BSNL basic phone serrvices and I don't want the internet connection for very long duration, so I think Home 500 C will not be approproate in my case as if I removed the broadband it will affect the base phone pay and rates.

Yes I will be using the internet for around 1 hour surfing and 30 min skype "talk" per day. Around how much data is uploaded/downloaded in 30 min of skype/gtalk talk?

How will it affect your current phone rates? At the moment, you must be on one-india plan with Rs. 180/- as fixed line rental and 50 free calls per month. This will reverted back to you after discontinuing with the Home 500 C plan.

    - For Home 125 plan, you will have to pay Rs. 180/- fixed line rental extra. So your real cost is Rs. 305/- (180+125). Usage - 150 MB and no free night time. Extra BB usage = 90p/MB.

    - For Home 250 plan, you will have to pay Rs. 180/- fixed line rental extra. So your real cost is Rs. 430/- (180+250). Usage - 1 GB and no free night time. Extra BB usage = 90p/MB.

You can go for whatever plan that appeals to you; but if you do careful math, you can see that Home 500 C is the best "Value for Money" plan.

Dude if thats what you gona do then i am sure that in 5 days you will consume your whole limit. 1 hours surfing in 2mbps connection will take at least 30 MB of data usage. And skype/gtalk will add more to it. Hope you understand now.
