Exclamation Procedure to Apply for Connection

    Hi Friends,
'm a newbie to this forum....
i wanna know the procedures to follow, to apply for a new Dataone broad band connection....
also i have two queries to be sorted out....

1.my friend told me that one should be very near to the exchange in order to get a decent speed... in my case 'm 7 km away from the exchange.... so is it worth getting a connection in this scenario... will i get a decent speed anyway, which is quite good enough to check mails, surf n download 10 mb of data?

    2. i had sancharnet n netconnect dial up connections previously which never worked correctly, gave speeds up to 10 to 20 kbps, n often disconnected every now n then which i disconnected for the very same reason... my local exchange engineer said "if u didn't get dial up connection properly then broadband also will also not work properly..."

this is why 'm hesitating to get a new connection....

freinds, please clear my doubt n help me....

At a distance of 7 km +, there could be a lot of noise on the telephone line. You connection could get frequent drop out besides speed loss.

mm.. if u r away then.. take H250.. try it.. if u r not facing any problem.. then immedtly change it into H500.. and one more thing.. u cant drop ur connection for atlease 3 months if u have slow speed. meanwhile.. if u r not at all able to connect.. in that case u can raise ur query and get it done...

    hi just4kix,
apart from frequent connection drop n speed loss, how much speed i can able to get? during the dial up usage i faced this frequent drop out... so i think i can adjust with this to a maximum... but if i can get a decent speed of 50 kbps or above then i would be very happy...

    hi aruncse30,
from ur reply 'm assuming that i can get a connection atleast... if i do so, then u suggest me to opt for home 250 plan... mate, today i saw in bsnl site that they introduced home 125 plan... how about that? what type of modem that i should rent?

and is there any other way, say like, i can able to install some additional device in order to get constant connection n speed?

well HOME 125 is quite less according to me.. HOME 250 is a bit better.. it all depends on your usage.. if you are using it for basic browsing then HOME 250.. if you are going to do some downloading then HOME 500

To get a connection go to your nearest bsnl customer care center and fill the necessary forms and do it accordingly. I too reside nearly 5 to 6 km from the exchange and i don't face much like speed issues and my speed are very manageable to browse and download in most cases, so don't worry.

hi buddy.. in bsnl u have lockin period of 3 months.. i.e.. u cant drop ur connection for 3 months once u get.. thats y i suggested for H250.. You can go for H125... but.. think.. if u get good speed in ur area.. then 150MB would gone in jus 2 days...

Anyhow... FIRST ask ur local exchange opertr. whethr its possible to have BB in ur area.. if yes.. then go for H125 or H250.. check the speed.. if its not bad.. and if u r not a BIG BB user.. then stay with H250.. and if u need some more usage .. then change H250 into H500.. and finally if u r not at all getting average connection.. then ask ur exchange opertor to disconnect the BB... and explain ur situation.. and they should disconnect it without fee. if the disagree it.. then wait for 3 months.. and pay 750Rs.. this is wat i can suggest... Hope im not confusing u...

As xwhyx also located like u. then u also maynt be getting any problem./. hope for the best..

'm really thankful to all of you guys who shared their views n suggestions on my doubts...

well, ever since i thought of getting a bsnl broad band conn, my ultimate choice is home 500 plan... but i asked about home 125 only to check whether i'll get constant connection n any speed related issues or not...

so pals, today 'm going to start the process to get the conn with home 125 plan n will check for the concerned issues... if i get a decent speed n constant conn then i'll go for home 500 plan..
