Default Need Help!!!

Hi,

First of all, I thank just4kix for the doc on configuring linksys and modem.

I have a Linksys WRT54g, MT882 huawei modem and BSNL broadband. As per the details provided in the doc, i set up a wireless N/w.

The laptop identifies the wireless network. After providing WPA key and clicking connect, no successful connection is done. System processes for sometime and once again displays the available N/ws.

Can anyone help me out???

Regds,
Siva.

For the time being, disable wireless security and try connecting. If connection is successful, then you may have issues with wireless security. Some older laptops, wi-fi cards have problem with WPA-PSK. Try following options:

- WPA-PSK with TKIP algorithm
- WEP
- MAC Address filtering

Regards.

Thanks yaar..

I am able to connect with security settings disabled....

Laptop's wireless N/w consists Atheros AR5007EG..Driver date 5/2/2007 and version 5.3.0.45

I think it should support both WPA(not sure) and WEP
I am unable to get much details abt this in other forums and atheros site too!!!

While trying to connect by using WEP, laptop connects and displays limited or no connectivity and sometimes connected. But iexplorer displays Page cannot be displayed.

What should i do to have a secure wireless connection???

Pls help me...

What laptop do you use? Is it very old (3+ years)? My laptop is Lenovo R61 and I use Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 ABG, Version 11.1.1.11. Try to update the driver.

If that does not work, use the simplest method - MAC Address filtering.

Hi,

Laptop is new one only....HCL laptop bought 3 months back.....
While browsing abt Atheros, there is no clear picture whether it supports WPA or not....

What is MAC Address filtering? Will it provide secured wireless connection?

Thanks a lot....

Rgds,
Siva.

MAC Address is the address built into all the network cards.it is a code which is unique for each network card.so if you enable MAC address filtering it means you are setting the network to allow to connect only those computers/laptop whose MAC address you have entered.to know MAC address of any computer type ipconfig /all in command prompt.
