Why post bmp image, convert it to jpg and you can get it below 100 kb easy.

    Default 8 Mbps

Signed up for 8 Mbps. Should've started to get it from 12:00 a.m. However, the plan changed to 15000 in the control panel - yet to see any difference in speed though. Line speed is still at 2048/256 kbps.

i am still getting 4-8Mbps speed.
here's what i found. i don't know anything about this. the significant change is that during normal bandwidth(250-359Kbps) the statistics shows ADSL 2
but during 4-5Mbps speed it shows G.DMT
If any one of U could interpret these statistics please explain.
here's the compete BSNL statistics report taken from 192.168.1.1

my guess is that some upgradation work is going on in your area for launching IPTV for which 8mbps speed is must.maybe they test the IPTV service at these times & that is why your modem automatically gets the high speeds because it syncs with a much faster rate.

it also depends on whether bsnl is using some software to restrict users from getting more than 2mbps when such tests are carried out.if no such policies are being used at the local exchange then users may get high speeds because i have seen users with 8mbps line rates in their modems & still getting max download speeds around 1.9mbps.

But U havn't ansered my question
during normal bandwidth(250-359Kbps) the statistics shows ADSL 2
but during 4-5Mbps speed it shows G.DMT
cuold anyone tell what is G.DMT.
also i'm getting this speed (4Mbps) constantly for the past two days.
though browsing speeds are fast, firefox shows that files are downloaded at 70KB/s, though i just tried for a small file.
i also in a way found out how to get stable 4Mbps speeds(but i'm not sure)
    in ut300r2u modem
    192.168.1.1 and type username password
go to advanced and click on dsl
in it uncheck ADSL 2 & ADSL 2+. check whether G.DMT in ticked. save.
    save and reboot. done
I'm just a beginner. only experts who know about it try it. but i don't think it will be of any harm as U can undo the steps easily.
give it a try and give feedback. As i'm not sure of the download speed please let me know what's the download speed U get.

G.Dmt is the standard mode set in all bsnl provided modem now-a-days.since mode changing depends upon how modem syncs with exchange that is why i said that at these times maybe bsnl engineers tested lines by using G.Dmt mode with no restrictions on speed & that is why your modem operational mode changes automatically with increased speeds.

i don't think they are testing as i am getting it constantly for past 2 days. may be i have to wait till anyone else confirms it. if U guys get it please reply and also tell the download speed.
for the past week only occasionally i got 4Mbps. but after diabling ADSL 2 & ADSL2+ yesterday i get it whenever i logged in. And even if i swtch off and switch on the modem the speed stays.

my operation mode is Gdmt from the beginning & almost all users having bsnl provided modems have Gdmt mode as default so i guess you are among the lucky few whose area speeds are increased.as for me i get download speeds around 1.8-1.9mbps & i would suggest you to check your download speed by actually downloading some big file & then see how much speed you get.

just suggest the link of any big file to download (it would be better if U have already downloaded it with 1.9Mbps so that we can compare speeds).
this sounds silly but actually i havn't downloaded any big files.

Why have you taken the picture with your phone ? Just press "print sreen" i.e, "prt scr" on your keyboard and paste in paint or any other image editing tool.

I have both ubuntu linux and xp.
bsnl speed tester works only in xp( or i think U need to change some settings in linux). even for me in linux it shows below 10Kbps. but the browsing speeds are the same. i find no difference.

i downloaded it today morning. it took me 24 min( not much different from yours). but the significant thing is avg spedd was 280KB/s and peak speed was 330KB/s and most of the time it was above 270KB/s. but twice it went down to 90KB/s hence it took 24min. but the thing is all speed tests show above 3Mbps.
And also webpages and you tube videos open very fast.
I presume that for a youtube video to play properly U need to wait for a minute or so for it to load( usually happens for me before). but now i plays instantly without break. for a 20min video it loads fully within 3 mins( high quality).
So i'll download more and tell U tomorrow.

my suggestion is install it.it should install even if xp is not original.i am using it & my system's performance is much better than before though i did a format & then install a fresh copy of XP SP2 & then immediately installed SP3.also let me know your download speeds for other downloads too preferably for big files like movies using torrents.
