Cool Creating a PPPoE Dialup Connection

OK, I have created a PPPoE Dialup Connection for my Siemens C2110 (btw this modem sucks ) provided by BSNL, i can successfully create it but the problem is that whenever i tried to connect i always get the "Error 678", i have tried every methods!, search through forums, and some1 have suggested me to use the RASPPOE ( RASPPPOE - PPP over Ethernet Protocol by Robert Schlabbach ), but still getting the same errors .

Any help would be much appreciated

(Yes, i have setup my modem correctly and i am using the V55.1.03.06 firmware on WinXP SP2 )

error 678 may also occur if there is something wrong at the bsnl's end.contact your local exchange & ask them if they have activated your connection along with username/password provided.

    Trouble shooting in Broadband (Dataone)

    Problem Error-678
Description This is most common problems. It is due to poor connectivity. Problem can be anywhere between B.RAS - Tier 2 - DSLAM - Modem - PC of the customer.
Remedy Switch off / Switch on Modem (Power Switch at the back of modem ) and wait for 2 minutes. Then retry.
If problem is not solved then Reset Modem [Back pin (in the hole) to be pressed in switched ON condition]

If problem is still not solved then
a)Check LINK LED(yellow) in Black type Modem or WAN lamp in White Modem. If it is blinking, then it is line problem.
    b)Check Modem to splitter connectivity.
    i) Jack in & Jack out the cable of / to the modem and to the splitter
ii)Jack in & Jack out the telephone connection of the splitter.
If lamp is still blinking - then it is due to poor line condition / fault.
The case has to be referred to Area Broadband Team for attending the fault.

LOL!, a helpful suggestion .. yes they have already activated my connection, username and password are also correct. I am able to connect using the web interface of my modem "192.168.1.1". But i want to connect via the Dialup- PPPoE method for some reasons.

    Any other suggestions...

it happens to me that they gave me modem but forgot to activate the connection, username & password.after complaining they activated it 2 days later.

i am using the same modem.you can connect using bridge mode(in connection configuration you have to select bridging instead of pppoe)if you want to connect using windows dial option(in this you enter your username/password in windows to connect).if you select pppoe mode in modem then you have to also enter your username/password in modem & then whenever you want to connect just turn on the modem & modem will dial the connection for you.in any case windows inbuilt dialler is preferred over RASPPOE for normal/home users.

Okay i got your point there, but i dont want the modem to dial by itself.

The reason that i want to create a PPPoE Dialup Connection is that I want to disconnect and then reconnect my modem at regular intervals. And i have also created a batch file for automatic reconnect and disconnect, but the PPPoE dialup procedure needs to work first.

You may be asking why disconnect and then reconnect...this is simply bcoz im a regular rapidshare downloader, and i need to change my ip address after every downloads (being not a premium user and all that). So the PPPoE method is the best option.

I use the "devcon" tool(with ipconfig to flush my dns and renew my adapter also in a batch file), to disable my network connection and then enable it but this method is not good it only disable the network and then re-enable it... no change of ip addresses.

in connection configuration you have to select bridging instead of pppoe.you are sure that you selected bridging instead of pppoe when configuring your internet connection(by clicking on the red pencil in front of last connection(the one with _0_35_ values).

absolutely correct. This is as simple as 1,2,3 ,Just configure the modem in bridge mode ,Provide value of VCI ,VPI ,save your setting and there would be no problem by connecting via dialer.

you can do this to create dial-up using pppoe mode just tick the option " Dial on Demand" and then you will need to make a dial-up connection in windows and then dial from that
    your problem is solved

Well first of all, I'm using BSNL UTStarcomm WA3002G4 Modem. The following is its result:

I can connect with this(Dial on Demand) method but how do I disconnect it? I tried the bat file method "rasdial "bsnl" /disconnect" but though the connected icon is gone, i can still browse (though after an initial delay which i guess it is connecting again).

Also there is an "Connect Manual" option above it, it doesnt work for me, does it for you?
