first:go into routers config. page ,to go into the routers config page just type 192.168.1.1 in the browser(firefox,I.E etc) type the username & password in the dialogue box which appears which is generally the username is admin & password
    is admin

second:in the config. page go to wan options (i am sending you some screenshots that will be helpful to you)

third:go to lan option and enable DHCP server

fourth:go into the network connections in your laptop and under the wi-fi or lan connection right click on it and click properties and then go to tcp/ip and under there aet the option enter ip address manually

    fifth:enter the ip address:192.168.1.(any number between 3-254)
subnet maskwhen you will press tab key after entering ip address it will automatically fill it but by the way it is 255.255.255.0.

    default gateway:192.168.1.1

primary DNS:any open DNS would work fine or just type 192.168.1.1.

    thats all

NOTE: before doing this ensure that your router is being detected by your laptop under UpnP devices.
