Used to download like hell when the free night time usage was implemented back in Aug 16th 2005. Trust me, after a couple of years people who download every night will get bored. These days i am into rapidshare premium, purely for the mindblazing speeds of the order of 230-240 kBps.

Well this is offtopic, but since u asked so am stating.

My niece has taken a fascination for Sherlock Holmes TV series ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086661/ ) and asked me to source it from "internet". I searched high and low for the same, but the same wasnt available in any private trackers. It was available in torrents.ru, but they had dubbed it in French. I needed the original TV series in English. The whole series which mounted to 16GB was available on Rapidshare. I needed a premium account to download those through download managers with resume support.

I posted this situation of me in a rival broadband forum, and lo! many people started offering me their rapidshare accounts for free. My inbox was filled with rapidshare premium username/passwords. I went through all of them and found one account with 12GB total left along with 5GB of traffic share. 17GB more than enough since the complete series required just 16GB of data transfer.

Started downloads the same night, by 3 nights, i had downloaded the whole series. And my niece is happier these days

The whole episode taught me there are indeed good people who are willing to share with complete strangers.

When I've UL 750 my DL/UL limit is always above 150 gigs bcoz i've download many games like cs , diablo II , warcraft III, Global operation, and many more (countless for me) and some OST like of Tokyo Drift , NFS UG, High School Musical etc.

But when my father changed the plan to home 250 I just use it to play Online RPG game Travian and sometimes for AOE 2.

The maximum speed supported by UL 750 is 32 kBps. In one day u will be able to download 2587 MB. In 30 days u will be able to download 77610MB which roughly amounts to be 75GB.

How were u able to download 150GB per month on an UL connection?

... how can u use their connection?
this is not at all ethical if you are using their connection by any way(i am not sure how you do it) . this is a case of wi-fi hacking.

i am really surprised ... and what about all those wifi related security talks over the terrorist attacks and all?? i mean if there is no subscription of net connection on anyone's name its impossible to find out if someone sends some illegal mail or stuff like in terrorist attacks... how come this is possible ...

i would like this to be explained by someone ... who really knows this thing ...

I was initially searching for free premium accounts. Unlike our lucky cool techie, I did not have much luck. I was not having very good speed with Torrents either. Then I realised that for the kind of stuff I download, getting a Rapidshare account is far more beneficial. Me and my friend both share the expense of having this account, he mostly downloads movies and TV series, and I mostly download books and games, haven't done much lately though.

You might waana me careful there buddy, these days you never know what kinda of mess you can get into. If you are accessing a unprotected network then there are more chances that your labtop/desktop runs the risk of coming into attack. Your machine can then be used a homing device or worse even as a machine which start a DOS attack on a specific website that a attacker chooses.

On a related note, I download somewhere from 5GB to 10GB mostly from rapidshare or from software sites.

Where the heck do you guys store all these data, I think we need to start a thread which has poll as to how many GB (or TB) of hard disk each one has

Not really, you just have to be careful not to overuse it. My friend usually downloads in the night and I do it in morning. We just ensure that both of us don't download exactly at the same time and more with only two people downloading it won't much of a difference, if more than, say like 10 - 20 people, it will make a huge difference

What is the maximum speed that you get while using this WiFi? I have used Tata Indicom's data card and reliance data card and that's not much of speed .
