Hi
Well if ur modem was configured for both and if it was done by the BSNL people then they must definitely set it to bridge mode.
Which means u need to use a dialer every time u connect on to the internet using ur username and password.....
U will have to configure ur nokia semeins sl2_141 .. into PPPoE mode so that the connection always remains ON until u dont Power off the modem .
Then u will be able to get internet on ur wired machine as well as ur Laptop simultaneously.

If u want help then please post ur modems configuration page screen shots here so that .....may be i can get help to configure it to PPPoE mode.

Hey i wanted the screen shots of the wireless modem that is given to u by BSNL

try typing Http://192.168.1.1
I hope this will be the link for ur router toooo.....cos its there for most of them ..
Then u will be asked for a username : admin password: admin the defaults generally.
Also let me know the exact model no of ur Router/Modem from BSNL.
This u showed me was ur connected machines details .....i expected the Routers configuration page.

click on WAN.there in connections look for if any connection has VPI/VCI values 0 & 35 respectively.if not create one such connection.select connection type as pppoe,encapsulation--LLC,make this connection as default route.enter your bsnl username & password(without @bsnl.in i think) & enable DNS.set it to automatic but if you have to enter use these servers(open dns)---208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220.also enable DHCP.first connect to bsnl & then you may want to ask about port forwarding.also set in TCP/IP properties of both comp/laptop"obtain IP address & dns server address automatically".

i don't think that modem actually dials.it just negotiate the link with local exchange(very much like when you take your laptop to a wifi network & it started getting IP address) & when the link established it login with the username/password.

You need to do the following:

a) As suggested earlier, configure/setup the SL2_141 in PPPoE mode. Please have a look at this guide: http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b...onnection.html (Solution for multiple machines connecting to same BB connection). The guide has SL2_141 settings at the end.

b) You must get rid of all internet connection dialers on your laptop/desktop.

c) Remove dial-up connections from the browsers also.

Hmm ...even i had thought so .....it never actually dials ...i guess it simply synchronizes and ......connects ....cos if it would have dialed then PSTN mein aur broadband mein farak nahi reh jata na .....I guess PSTN mein bhi dial hota hai na ....?

yes!in PSTN a no. is also given to dial(e.g.all gprs mobile internet services require a no. to dial).bsnl's netone no. is 172222.

and also.. what would be pppoe service name???

i hope iam in right direction

and one more thing what if i want to connect 2 wireless laptops with the modem.. will that be easier and how..

when you click on edit on ppoe_0_35 choose pppoe if it was set to bridge.enter your bsnl username/password in this next screen.click next & if you get some dns server address to fill use these(208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220).after completing all steps you have to click on apply changes.it will take around 2 min i think.after that restart your modem just to be sure.if it didn't work out you can get your settings back by simply editing the connection again & selecting bridging instead of pppoe.rest of the settings will be same in both cases.once you are done modem will make the connection itself without anything to be done from your side(like entering/clicking to connect in windows when using bridge mode).after that as soon as laptop is in range you simply have to connect to wifi & you will be connected to net.
