    Default connecting dialer

    i am having a bsnl broad band (sterlite WA1000A). i am using a laptop (compaq presario A900). iam getting wireless internet. can i use this modem for telephone dialing also. eiher wireless or not.

    please advuse

    no, modem is used only for internet.. you cannot use it to make calls through your telephone line

    However, you can use applications such as Skype or Yahoo Messenger to make VOIP calls using broadband. PC to PC calls are free but PC to Phone (fixed/mobile) are payable. Yahoo is cheap - 8c/min (or 32~35 paise/min) for international calls. Skype gives better clarity but more expensive.

    Oops. A mistake in my post. Using Yahoo voice, calls cost 8c/min or Rs. 3.20/min.

    He! He! 32p would be ridiculously cheap.
