I want to change my Type 1 modem to support Wi-Fi connection . The modem bought was from BSNL .
Is it possible to replace it ? Or do I have a separate Wireless router ?
I have a desktop(without Wifi) and a laptop supporting Wifi ?

ask bsnl to replace type I with type IV or type II modem.it will take some time depending on availability in your area.if you don't want to wait then buy a wireless router.
How much would a wireless router cost ?
Also , another question ... In this manner I would be sharing the broadband bill with my house owner . They have a 250 plan (usage still to find out )
Will it make sense to continue with the same plan and pay addition usage charges
OR
shift to 500 plan ?
And if both of the above does not work out ....
Should I go for BSNL 500c plan or Airtel 550 plan ? ( My requirement is around 1GB - 1.5 Gb usage per month ) - Here in both I would have to pay for modem charges . right ?
Wireless router costs around 2000/- . I have linksys wireless router and it was about 3700/- when i purchased it 6-7 months back.
better to shift to 500 & if you want your independent connection take 500C+.it costs around Rs.600-700 & offer 2.5GB with free night usage(2-8AM)& also 175(i think not sure)calls.check plan details at bsnl site.
