it's very unlikely that you can power off a modem/router by using some script.even a computer can't be completely turned off(even after you shutdown there still is power from UPS/mains into motherboard) without manually switching off the UPS.

right.. you cannot power off a modem using any script... and yes the above script is a telnet script not java script

the above script is only for pppoe mode.. and if u restart the modem and if u r not downloading.. then small tensafer will be thr.. u know need to worry about that.... i had 200KB transfer from 8AM-12PM...

if u r using bridge mode.... then disconnect script.. will fully disconnect ur connection.. no data transfer..even 200KB

but power line will be remain switched ON.. if u want to switch it off automatically...well.. contact some modem assembler and change ur modem parts to do that thing..

There are timer switches available that can switch on/switch off power supply. These interface between mains power and equipment:

Mains Power --> Timer Switch --> Equipment

This timer switch could be used to automate the switching. In UK, timer switches are connected to electric water heaters to start the water heating in mornings, evenings, etc.
