There is a problem with windows xp sp2.
if u increase halfopen connections beyond 10 system will show fatal error and shuts down immediately or asks for original xp cd. I rebooted without cd and the firewall crashed, internet won't connect.
fortunately i had dual boot with ubuntu(linux), so i downloaded patch in ubuntu and installed it in windows and then firewall was restored. then i increased to halfopen connections to 50. then i can connect.
but i don't think U can increase beyond 50 (atleast if u have windows firewall) because the patch specified the limit as 50. But i don't know as i didn't try.
I did not have any issue when i increased the number to 80
May be you have some other firewall or deactivated the firewall before increasing it or maybe you have xp sp1
Hi Narsimhan1990,
you are right about windows XP sP2. After 2-3 hours ,utorrent just freezes and refuses to download ,when half-open ports are set to 80. I changed it to 10,and now getting stable downloads.
By the way,can you post the patch.or the link to the patch for XP sp2 for utorrent half open ports.
thanks for your quick response to my query.

this is the link of the pack. i think max is 50(i didn't go beyond that). i'm just a beginner so i was afraid to try beyond 50. but its your wish don't blame me.
Dear bharatgourabdas
thanks for your comments. I am using sp2 while you also have sp2 final.
maybe that causes difference. I will apply the patch and try out various values, to see which gives best results.
Currently my "connections half open " value is 10. today I got a download speed of 100 Kbps.

its mostly got to do with port forwarding properly.. to confirm you have port forwarded properly you can use this online port scanner Online Port Scanner | Port Scan | Port Scanning | Portscan Tool
hey superprash i tried the online port scanner. it says not responding for all ports. but on the contrary in utorrent the colour is green. is there some problem with my connection.
i use bridge mode. i didn't open any ports in firewall but the colour is green.
i get full bandwidth speeds in utorrent. so this means portforarding is automatically done in bridge mode? then how come your online port scanner doesn't detect it? does that mean the port scanner works only in poppe mode?
Its NOT my port scanner.. i just use it.. it normally should say that your port is opened.. irrespective of whether you are connecting it bridged mode or ppoe mode.. are you sure you typed in the right port to scan? the one mentioned in the utorrent settings?if you are getting good speeds then nothing to wrry
if you are using some firewall then too the port scan will not work as it will be seen as a kind of security attack by firewall & will be blocked.
i see thanks.
but is portforarding is automatically done in bridge mode?
because i didn't open any ports in firewall and i also chose randomize port each time. and for every random port i get green signal.
port forwarding is automatically done in bridge mode & all the traffic at all ports will come directely to your computer.if you didn't open any ports in firewall then you must have instructed your firewall to allow utorrent to accept incoming connections on any port.
I get super fast down and up both at the same time. No hassles to forward ports..

iceman1981,seems like you are either using some corporate connection or are not in india.these stats are not possible for a 2mbps bsnl home plan connection.
any speed is possible dude these days from anywhere.. 100 megs upload possible easily..
100megs is possible easily in europe & japan.this is India where we don't even have a 2mbps unlimited.
well, i cant say anything..
check this attachment. if u dont believe, mail me at a2@hotftp.info
its not a question of my belief but technical facts like 2+2=4.in your 1st screenshot one of your torrents has download speed 5.9MBps or 47mbps.now as far as i know no organization/company uses 47mbps connection in entire INDIA so that screenshot can not be possibly from this country i.e.INDIA but you can get a 50mbps connection in Europe,Japan & South Korea.
