    Exclamation torrent problem

    I have dataone 500c plan.
normal download speed is between 50-120kb/s.
but whenever i download from torrents the speed is just 10-25kb/s. i have utorrent. it says port is not forwarded properly.
is there any solution to this problem?

as whitestar said there are a lot of port forwarding threads already.. incase you are still not able to port forward it could be that your software firewall(eg windows firewall) is blocking it.. so make sure you open ports there also

i would suggest u to use bridge mode as i think so u r using a always on connection. in bridge mode port is automatically forwarded. and one more thing increase ur max_half_open connection to 80.

to increase max half open ports in XP SP2 you have to use a patch also.

i activated port forwarding. but i still get only
    download speed 30kb/s
    upload speed 90kb/s in utorrent
what do you guys get as download speed. i don't care much about upload speed as i only download.
is there a way of still increasing download speed.

in torrents the speed is governed by the number of leechers and seeders the greater the no. of leechers the more the speed ...........and you are stating that
i am getting 30KB/s then its okay it is normal try to download the stuff in which the seeders and the no. of leechers are large then see the results you will be amazed

in home 500C try some latest movie torrents.you should easily get around 180KBps for 2 or more good torrents.

    Exclamation Strange Problem

In utorrent i faced some strange problem few days back.
The problem was that i was getting speeds around 20 KBps.

(Strange because all the peers were showing same speed)

after tweaking with utorrent i found that in Speed Guide Section it was showing Current Settings as Connection Type.

I switched to xx/2Mbit and now every thing is normal and i getting speeds above 200 KBps +

    i understand
so what number of peers and seeds could give higher speed.
for nfs pro street i get in utorrent
    seeds 10(50)
    peers 30(2800)

whats the number inside and outside the brackets signify.
is there a better site where there are more seeds/peers??

numbers inside bracke shows total no. of seeds/peers & no. outside brackets shows to how many seeders/peers are you connected.in this case you are connected to 10 seeders out of 50 & 30 peers out of 2800.no. of peers(2800)is very large compared to seeders(50 only).you will get poor speeds on such torrents.

    Try these,

    mininova.org
    thepiratebay.org
    sumotorrent
    isohunt

There are a no of factors apart from seeders, which govern speed,
1.maximum no of peers allowed per torrent
2.global total no of peers allowed
3.ratio of no of seeders to leechers
    4.bandwidth allocated to a torrent(optional inside utorrent)
5.no of peers who have more percentage of the download than you(they also play partly as seeders)
6.if you limit your upload speed then also the download speed might suffer.

there is no need for patches,............go to advance setting of u torrent in the preference. there is a setting called max_half_open connection........just set it to around 80

Windows xp by default caps max half oppen connections to 10. And u need to patch it to increase their number.Simply changing in utorrent wont do.
