Exclamation Getting a new connection without phone

    Hi friends,

I want to get a new broadband connection from bsnl. But I don't have a bsnl land line connection @ home. I would like to opt for home500. But when I checked bsnl websites they say I have to get a landline phone connection before getting the broadband. But I don't telephone.I need only broadband modem.

So my question is will I have to pay for the rent of this telephone along with the broadband or is it possible that I tell them I don't need telephone here and I need only the modem.

BTW I called the bsnl call center. Either they ask me to call another number where I hear only the computer(recorded voice) speak.A typical govt. call center.Thats why I am here.

    thank you

1.When you'll apply for BSNL you'll have to pay 250 for a landline connection first(you can't get only internet without landline).
2.After you get the landline connection, you'll apply for broadband connectionon the landline no you got,
3.You won't have to buy the phone,it comes within the 250 you have paid.
4.I only want to know how much are you willing to pay/month.
5.Also take a look at EVDO/NIC,BSNL wireless broadband.

    Check this post.

Pretty much answered thru the previous post. Some more explanation:

    a) Broadband is available by three means: phone (land), cable and wireless. For each you require to have a landline, cable TV connection or WLL phone respectively.
    b) Fixed landline phone BB services (such as BSNL or Airtel) are the best.
    c) If you have no phone (landline) connection you will have to get one.
    d) You will have to pay for initial landline connection and installation, but monthly fixed line rental is waived off in some BSNL plans such as Home 500 C, Home 500C+ or UL 900 (UL 750?).

Visit the BSNL site and go through the FAQs and tariff rates. If you have doubts please ask.

You can go for home 500 or home 500 c plan which is a new plan which they have launched and there is no landline rental applicable. But the plan charge is 500 plus tax and 600 plus tax for both the plans and you get nightime unlimited and the speed is up to 2 mbps. i would strongly suggest this plan as it is the best right now with bsnl with no rental for phone lines.
