is there any way to configer ports of Modem i have ADSL modem from bsnl ZTX somthing.. any idea? pls reply
please be more specific on what you want to achieve..there is no configuration as such required..presuming LAN ports and you want to connect multiple pcs..you first need to be in ppoe mode
thanks, actualy i have already configure multi pc on lan using switch . i want to know that is there any how we can configure switch or modem to control other pcs internet flow and other matter like site restriction, download speed limitation. etc.... one more thing i have connect modem to switch and other computer to that switch as well (including main pc as well).. any guidens?
Understood what you wish to do. For site restrictions:
- A switch is pretty much just a distributor of lan connnection. Imagine this like to be a multiple extension electrical cord. No configuration possible for what you mentioned.
- On a router some limited configuration is possible to restrict sites, etc.
- A true web filtering such as blocking pornography, warez, etc. is available through softwares such as NetNanny, CyberSitter, etc.
Following site gives the review of top 10 content filtering software: Internet Filter Software Review 2008
It also appears that you are running a small office or cybercafe, etc. I would recommend that you buy one of the top three from the above. A fee of less that $40 works out to less than Rs. 1600/-. I recommend to buy original software
Some small piece of advice - you may choose to follow it or not - entirely up to you.
Do not download and install a warez copy or use keygen software to do that. 2 years ago I did something like that and my whole PC was hijacked by a worm. It took away all my admin rights, would not let me open the registry, my browser home page was set to something and I could not change it, etc., etc.
From this day I became an ardent anti-piracy supporter.

Thanks for your kind information and support definatly i will follow your advice. Yes u r right I am having Cyber cafe.
thanks again
I was myself going through the software reviews. It appears that you will have to buy the license for every PC. If this works out too expensive, you could install a windows proxy server, install the content filter on the proxy server and use the proxy as the internet gateway for all other machines in the cybercafe.
