Rep Power: 2 | Hello guys, I just changed into 500C plan this month. So being a newbie I have encountered some problems with my connection. 1. I mainly use utorrent for downloading movies. I wake up at 2am to start download and then go back to sleep and wake up around 7am to switch it off. For first two days it was fine, then I found that internet is diconnecting sometime during the night. I have siemens c2110 and it shows all its lights are on (meaning fully connected) but utorrent has stopped downloading. I tried to open a webpage and it too was not loading. Only way to resume is by restarting the modem(switching off and on). Any idea what might be wrong? I tried starting at 5am to see if it was due to long duration of activity but it too had stopped by 7am. I use winXP SP2 and has patched it to increase max half open connections from 10 to 50. Still no use. Anyone know how to solve this? 2. While browsing this forum I have seen that you have to restart the connection after 2am to avail free hours. Unfortunately, I have seen this only just now and by now I have used more than 14GB this month. I usually leave modem on most of the time(9pm-8am) and start download only after 2am. Horrified I ran to check BBportal and found that BSNL has listed my usage under unbilled free night hours. That means it's free right? I know bsnl portal is slow on showing latest usages but it won't take two whole weeks in my knowledge. Should I change my connection from ppoe (I spelled right, didn't I?) to bridge type? Is it even possible? If so how? 3.I am tried of waking up to start and stop downloads. I read posts to restart the modem connection, but how do I hibernate or standby my pc using task scheduler? Also is it possible to turn on (from shutdown, standby or hibernation) a pc by task scheduler? Anyone who knows about these things plz help. Thanks..... |

Rep Power: 2 | I have asked the same questions as you asked in my thread "My Internet connection stops after a few minutes of Utorrent Downloading" http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b...wnloading.html (My Internet connection stops after a few minutes of Utorrent Downloading) You can read that thread for additional details. Ok . Lets start. From your post i can understand that you are using the same modem as mine. Did you do a port forwarding to yor Siemens C2110. If not do the rest. You can find portforwarding techniques from this page. But the modem seen in this page is not ours. There's no pordforwarding technique is in their site for our modem. But the modem shown is almost similar to ours [In its portforwarding setup only]. Port Forwarding for the Siemens CL-110 1. To enter into configuration page, you just type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. Here you can see a page like this. Image hosted with 4FreeImageHost.com Enter "admin" as username & password. 2. Then in the "Configuration" tab click on "Internet" and click on the "Disconnect" button as shown in the following figure. Tjis process will lead to you an advanced setup page. Image hosted with 4FreeImageHost.com 3. Click on "Advanced staus" as shown in the following figure. Image hosted with 4FreeImageHost.com 4. Now click on "Configuration" tab. Now you can see more links. On that click on "Advanced security". On that page click on "Port Forwarding". See the image follows. Image hosted with 4FreeImageHost.com 5. In the port forwarding page click on "ADD" button. Image hosted with 4FreeImageHost.com 6. Now you are in the port forwarding page. Image hosted with 4FreeImageHost.com Now do the rest of the steps carefully. 1. First in the application Name, click user defined and type "Utor1" if you are using utorrent. 2. The next step is the Internel Host IP Address. To setup an internal host ip address, do the following steps. THE FOLLOWING IS THE MAIN STEP. If YOU DONT DO THIS, YOUR PROBLEM WILL REMAIN {INTERNET STOPS CONNECTION} Quote:
3. Then as in the final picture of modem configuration, chose any one port for your incoming connections and type that port number on that four fields. Quote:
After doing all of these, you can now connect UTorrent without worrying about any CONNECTION STOPS. Quote:
You can use a software called "Auto Power On and Shut Down". It will enable us to hibernate the system and starts on specific time. Also it allows us to start a pgm at a particular time and ends it on another time. So its worth for you. To download the software you just Google it... Quote:
