Default Help on Intel D845 Mother Board

Guys,

I already posted in different section and got some respond.. but stil.. its urgent.. im trying to buy it tomorrow.. thats y posting in our section too..

I bought my PC on 2003 and it has Intel D845GLLY board. Im using 2 segate hard disks.. 40GB+80GB with 256MB RAM.

Now im planning to buy new hard disk which has the capacity of 250GB to 500GB. I heared that now SATA hard disks are good. However it has different port.

My questions are..
1.will my pc support 250GB hard disk
2.will my board suite this SATA hard disks.
3.I wont install heavy software in my PC.. i would have only tons of movies and i also write that into DVD periodically. So, will that new hard disk slow down my PC even for movie downloads

well i bought a pc around that time 2003-2004 . amd processor and MSI mainboard. It supports my 250gb+80gb hdds.Since we bought it around the same time, i presume it may work..I dont think SATA would work , cause this pc of mine doesnt support it.YOu would probably need to replace your motherboard to support SATA..

Default No Problem

Generally the Capacity doesn't matters.
It depends upon the interface and technical specification.

But i don't think your motherboard will support SATA interface.

You can try to purchase a PATA or an external USB Model.
Also u can get a SATA to PATA/ATAPI Convertor.
I am not confirm but it will cost u nearly 1K+.

D845 board does not support sata
as there is no sata controller on board and will not have option to connect sata devices

if you want you can check the product specification on intel website at the following link

(Intel® Desktop Board D845GLLY - Product Features)

If you want sata drives then you will have to buy a PCI sata connector but the speed may not be that good

thanks for ur help friends.... but still i have few doubts.

I heard that mother boards have certain bit rate..24bits,32 bits etc...
So it may not support hard disk which has huge capacity..

is that so guys??
