I am using the same technique for more than 5 years, currently i have 10 different OS installed (each with its own boot sector) on Two Hard Disks.
(each OS partition is compleatly hidden from other OS's)

I have made Bootable "Recovery CD's" for each OS, so whenever i face any problem (in any OS) or i feel the files are scattered too much, I just Boot the PC with the Bootable "Recovery CD" for that OS and it restore everything in 3-15 minutes.

Since u r using Internet on ur PC..., there will be a time when u face Virus Problem on the OS which connect to Internet.
Simplest solution is to restore that OS with its backup which was not infected...

I use one partition(OS) for accessing Internet, I don't have any antivirus (generally) on that OS, I hv installed Minimum Necessary s/w's on that OS - it increases performance.

However I don't recommend others to Not Install Antiviruses, I can detect the Virus Attack without any Antivirus but this art comes with Experiance...

Actually i have this so called 'art', can detect a virus in minutes without an antivirus installed... but don't want to risk 5 yrs of precious files with it ...

My hard disk is of the size of 80 GB. My RAM size is 256 MB. I will format my system once per year mainly to remove the computer junkies.

I hate to reinstall OS..The worst day was when when i had formatted my system 5 times in one day 2 days b4 my exam...Later I realized that all this problem was because of my pirated XP ....Didn't use my computers for My Lab Exam..Began the quest for original XP, got one now i have no problem with my PC...
I had previously formatted my system about 30times in 6months..
Thanks to the great malwares and trojans..

I use Ubuntu Linux...I generally install the lastest version (which is released every 6 months) afresh. Instead of upgrading from the existing one.

Default Have u people tried to install vista?

Look of course installing all the softwares again is a tough job,but i dont think that imaging a total computer by norton ghost or acronics or o&o disk image and copy it 2 a hard drive or partition of the same hard drive is possible for low disk capacity users.and if u copied the image 2 the same hard drive, and think that u have a virus like win32 hidrag or win32 salaman, then it will infect ur total hard disk SECURLY.
i have tried to install windows vista and really it take abt only 20 min 2 install the os on ur hard disk,at the max 30 mins.then install ur drivers nd softwares and it ll take at the max 40 mins(in my case b coz i dont use c drive 2 install softwares,i make different partitions like system needs and softwares, diff folders for each catagory of softwares, and diff folder for each softwares),total thing will cost me at the max abt 1 hr and it is too secure and of course u knw that the newly installed os will give u a better performance than a restored one.

Need to do this work once in 6 months! Why? to clean all that bloatware! (Btw, vista itself is a big bloatware!)

I normally do it once a year or may be twice but its just a click click thing coz I do a factory restore and everything returns to normal I normally do it when there is an issue which cant be easliy resolved and then restoring to factory is the easiest thing to do isint it?

ubuntu..not until a new version is released

fedora..until i screw it up..coz i use KDE and i'm not that good with it..
