Default Siemens C2110 - Port Forwarding Issues for µTorrent

*** [ In this thread i used images to explain the problem. But administrator allows me to show only 5 images in the thread. So I used links to images. Click the links to see images because images are important.] ***

I found many of the users in this forum have problems with their SIEMENS C2110 Modem.

Look if this is your modem.

Port Forwarding for µTorrent
1. Setup µTorrent
2. Create Static IP Address
3. Port Forwarding

1.- = Setup µTorrent = -

Before we can forward ports for µTorrent , we need to figure out what ports µTorrent is using. Here is a brief walkthrough on how to do that. Go ahead and open up µTorrent .

1. Click Options in the menu. In the list that drops down click Preferences.

http://www.4freeimagehost.com/uploads/536424babc91.jpg

2. Click Connections on the left hand side of the Utorrent program. You should now see the menu shown in the screenshot above. Make sure the Enable UPnP box is unchecked. The number in the Port Used for Incoming Connections box contains the port you need to forward. You can change the port number, if you want to. But remember the port number. We need this number to forward port. Here i am using 40400 as an example.

2. - = Create Static IP Address = - *** Dont Skip This ***

Quote:
To setup port forwarding on this router your computer needs to have a static ip address. Take a look at the Static IP Address guide to setup a static ip address.
PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall
Otherwise do the following steps.

1. In the Control Panel, select [Double Click] Network connections.

2. You may have several network connections in this window. I want you to right click on the one you use to connect to the internet. Then click properties.

3. Click Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) and then the Properties button. You will now see the following screen.

4. You can give any address in the IP address. This will be your Static IP address. The default gateway should be 192.168.1.1. You can use the given DNS servers in the image.

You should better use the same settings as I given in the image.

You have done the main part. Now your Static IP Address is 192.168.1.100

3. - = Port Forwarding = -

1. Open a web browser like internet explorer or Netscape. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. In the picture above the address bar has Google in it. Just replace all of that with the ip address of your router. By default the ip address should be set to 192.168.1.1.

Type "admin" as username and password [default] and click OK

2. You can now see the home page. Then in the "Configuration" tab click on "Internet" and click on the "Disconnect" button as shown in the following figure. This process will lead to you an advanced setup page. [See Image]

http://www.4freeimagehost.com/uploads/0b85bffd75fd.jpg Image - Configuration

3. Click on "Advanced status" as shown in the following figure.

http://www.4freeimagehost.com/uploads/41019f8167c0.jpg Image - Advanced Status

4. Now click on "Configuration" tab again. Now you can see more links. On that click on "Advanced security". You can see Virtual Server Configuration page. On that page click on "Port Forwarding". [See Image]

5. Click the Add button near the bottom-right side of the page.

6. Now you are in the port forwarding page.

Now do the rest of the steps carefully.

6.1. First in the application Name, click user defined and type "Utor1" for µTorrent.

6.2. The next step is the Internel Host IP Address. Enter the Static IP Address 192.168.1.100 which we have already created.

6.3. Next, as in the picture enter the port number 40400 [In the first step, wee given this port in µTorrent] in all the four fields.

6.4. Then click Apply.

And that is it! You are done!

Good Job done by you man.

If you find difficulties in pasting images, create a word doc with all your informations, zip it and upload it. It would be very easy for all to download and read. Great work man.

another easy way is go to firmware update option.there click on HELP link.help page will open with all the advanced options help like port forwarding, dmz etc & below each topic there is a link to that topic so just click on port forwarding link below port forwarding help & you will reach this option.no need to click on disconnect at all.

btw the above methods won't work for new nokia siemens c2110(not siemens c2110).

@player,i don't think anybody needs firmware updates for recent modems like siemens.in fact it is suggested not to update the firmware unless you are are having very big problems because if something goes wrong your modem will be useless.

i totally agree with whitestar, i dont find the need to simply update to the latest firmware unless there is some really great feature.. most of the time it ends up screwing your modem
