Default Siemens C2110 - Port Forwarding Issues for µTorrent

*** [ In this thread i used images to explain the problem. But administrator allows me to show only 5 images in the thread. So I used links to images. Click the links to see images because images are important.] ***

I found many of the users in this forum have problems with their SIEMENS C2110 Modem.

Look if this is your modem.

    Port Forwarding for µTorrent
    1. Setup µTorrent
    2. Create Static IP Address
    3. Port Forwarding

    1.- = Setup µTorrent = -

Before we can forward ports for µTorrent , we need to figure out what ports µTorrent is using. Here is a brief walkthrough on how to do that. Go ahead and open up µTorrent .

    1. Click Options in the menu. In the list that drops down click Preferences.

    http://www.4freeimagehost.com/uploads/536424babc91.jpg

    2. Click Connections on the left hand side of the Utorrent program. You should now see the menu shown in the screenshot above. Make sure the Enable UPnP box is unchecked. The number in the Port Used for Incoming Connections box contains the port you need to forward. You can change the port number, if you want to. But remember the port number. We need this number to forward port. Here i am using 40400 as an example.

    2. - = Create Static IP Address = - *** Dont Skip This ***

To setup port forwarding on this router your computer needs to have a static ip address. Take a look at the Static IP Address guide to setup a static ip address.
PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall
    Otherwise do the following steps.

    1. In the Control Panel, select [Double Click] Network connections.

    2. You may have several network connections in this window. I want you to right click on the one you use to connect to the internet. Then click properties.

    3. Click Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) and then the Properties button. You will now see the following screen.

    4. You can give any address in the IP address. This will be your Static IP address. The default gateway should be 192.168.1.1. You can use the given DNS servers in the image.

You should better use the same settings as I given in the image.

You have done the main part. Now your Static IP Address is 192.168.1.100

    3. - = Port Forwarding = -

    1. Open a web browser like internet explorer or Netscape. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. In the picture above the address bar has Google in it. Just replace all of that with the ip address of your router. By default the ip address should be set to 192.168.1.1.

    http://www.4freeimagehost.com/uploads/efdb12302c86.jpg Image - Login

Type "admin" as username and password [default] and click OK

    2. You can now see the home page. Then in the "Configuration" tab click on "Internet" and click on the "Disconnect" button as shown in the following figure. This process will lead to you an advanced setup page. [See Image]

    http://www.4freeimagehost.com/uploads/0b85bffd75fd.jpg Image - Configuration

    3. Click on "Advanced status" as shown in the following figure.

    http://www.4freeimagehost.com/uploads/41019f8167c0.jpg Image - Advanced Status

    4. Now click on "Configuration" tab again. Now you can see more links. On that click on "Advanced security". You can see Virtual Server Configuration page. On that page click on "Port Forwarding". [See Image]

    http://www.4freeimagehost.com/uploads/77297654fe02.jpg Image - Advanced Security

    5. Click the Add button near the bottom-right side of the page.

    http://www.4freeimagehost.com/uploads/0da4672c2900.jpg Image - Port Forward

    6. Now you are in the port forwarding page.

Now do the rest of the steps carefully.

6.1. First in the application Name, click user defined and type "Utor1" for µTorrent.

6.2. The next step is the Internel Host IP Address. Enter the Static IP Address 192.168.1.100 which we have already created.

6.3. Next, as in the picture enter the port number 40400 [In the first step, wee given this port in µTorrent] in all the four fields.

    6.4. Then click Apply.

And that is it! You are done!

Good Job done by you man.

If you find difficulties in pasting images, create a word doc with all your informations, zip it and upload it. It would be very easy for all to download and read. Great work man.

another easy way is go to firmware update option.there click on HELP link.help page will open with all the advanced options help like port forwarding, dmz etc & below each topic there is a link to that topic so just click on port forwarding link below port forwarding help & you will reach this option.no need to click on disconnect at all.

btw the above methods won't work for new nokia siemens c2110(not siemens c2110).

@player,i don't think anybody needs firmware updates for recent modems like siemens.in fact it is suggested not to update the firmware unless you are are having very big problems because if something goes wrong your modem will be useless.

i totally agree with whitestar, i dont find the need to simply update to the latest firmware unless there is some really great feature.. most of the time it ends up screwing your modem

[I was having some serious problem with my internet connection. So i was not active for a few weeks]
Ever since i started utorrent downloading with this modem, i encountered a lot of problems.

There wasn't any websites providing portforwarding for this type modem.
Then i mailed the siemens customer support team. But they too could not help me. After a few mails between them, i withdrawn from that.

Necessity may be the mother of invention. I found the "portforwarding" page from the help link of my router's page [as whitestar said]. Then I mixed my experiments with some help from the site "www.portforward.com".

I thought many others like me face the same problem. So I posted here. Now I am very happy to hear good words from you.

    @whitestar.
Hii.. as you said i first typed the way to enter the portforwarding page from the "help" link. Then i changed it to the orthodox style.

Thumbs up it was a great help but....

i followed your steps very carefully but i was not able to open the ports then i found out that i was using kaspersky internet security which has its own firewall so it kept on blocking the port. so in addition to the above steps for those who use kaspersky internet security , disable the firewall and enable windows firewall and add the port number to be forwaded to the exceptions list..

    thanks.

It is a permanent identification for your connection. We can have static IP for a fee with BSNL. Please mention your requirement.

There are two static IPs. LAN IP which we can configure, other is WAN IP which we normal mention as IP.

I know its an old thread but anyway, @ Whitestar, i hear v55.1.04.10 etc has a bug so downgrading to V55.1.04.02 enables port forwarding, what do u think?

    @ essbebe
    Always on PPPoE.
I have a nagging feeling that i missed out something in the edit port forwarding rules, ( i just left it as it is, didn't edit anything).

    Since i can't post url's yet:

    status(True)> Range>Source start IP add>0.0.0.0
    Source end IP add>255.255.255.255
    Subnet is not selected.

    Thanks again.

    Default C2110 Portforwarding Missing menu

    @Nondiscript
You were looking for FW upgrade/ or downgrade.
Now you say you have doubts about PF settings.

In a forum, if users, do not give proper
reply to the members queries/ suggestions, it is a disservice to the forum, and other users,
    and only "self interest" counts!

I would have replied like this.
"Yes. I tried Ip address as 192.1681.1./home.html or 192.168.1.1/home1.html or
    192.168.1.1/main.html
I could access the Advanced settings
    Port forward menu.
    Or
The Ip addresses you had given did not help,
    etc..
    2.
you can save the screen shot and upload at
    tinypic. com.
    give the link here as
    ://i43.tinypic.com/1234tryu.jpg ( EXAMPLE)
    3.
    Since @whitestar_999 and myself have
discussed this matter about two years back here , elsewhere, when no details were available about this modem/PF etc..
    Even Telnet/Hyperterminal methods were suggested.

Post NO 1 can be seen. Unfortunately all
images deleted in link web site.
    portforward.com
    has details about this router.

Yes, the firmware version v55.1.04.10 has bug in the port forwarding. If you set a port number to forward the packets it will not work.
The problem only you face If you use Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows ME, Windows 98 and 95. Windows XP and upper version of windows dont face this problem because the CPE C2110 with firmware v55.1.04.10 has UPNP enable. Windows XP and upper version of Windows support UPNP. So If you have Windows XP or using upper version of Windows then you dont need to set port forward.

    @essbebe
Sorry to confuse you, perhaps this will straighten it out:
    1. I cannot port forward, so
    2. I read somewhere in this forum that perhaps downgrading the FW might help, hence the question about FW.
    3. The reason i replied your post with PF setting is, naturally, because the link(s) you posted had to do with PF settings.
    4. So all in all, i see no inconstancies there. (a) PF problem (b) look for solution (c) Hypothesis (i). FW problem, hypothesis (ii). PF settings etc...
    5. But i guess i can abandon hypothesis (i) now as Indranil mentioned/explained above. ( thanks Indranil, btw).
    6.Heres my PF Rule screenshot

    ://img25.imageshack.us/i/portforwarding.jpg/

Thanks ( will try to be clearer from now on )

By the way, portforward dot com didn't help, tried the same steps few days ago ://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/NokiaSiemens/C2110/default.htm
