if you reset the c2110 modem(using reset & restart to factory default setting) then default connection is always pppoe(_0_35).just edit this connection as piratemaster images except that in image 4 select"obtain IP address automatically".

PS--my modem malfunctioned so i will not be online much for next 5-6 days also.

Thank You whitestar 999 and piratemaster.. i a now able to connect to internet ----> but it's very unusual ... the internet get connected automaticallly when i switched on and there is no automatic reconnect when the line is lost

this is how i use to connect to internet before i changed few settings ( and forget it) i did few in the page mentioned by the pirate master
the advantage here is that if the internet get disconnected in between i t will automatically redial....its vry usefull in downloading torrents.

now friends what i want it that i want everything as before ...i want to discard this option of automatic connect using modem

    this is what i want

the first image you posted is of bridge mode in which windows is used to connect to net & you don't get connected by just turning on the mode(pppoe mode).edit the connection(0_35 after resetting to factory default option in the mode setting page) & in the default image 3 by piratemaster select bridging instead of pppoe with all other settings same.now you can connect to net by double clicking on connect dataone(which you have to made in network connections using network wizard to connect to net).

    hi pirate master,
i have followed the steps shown by you to configure a pppoe connection.(earlier it was set to bridge. i wanted to configure it for utorrent, so i changed it- again following your other post. and yesterday night i downloaded some 750mb in 3 hours). thank you so much for the pain taken by you to educate others.

but i have one doubt.(it may be silly)

while conf pppoe we have selected that "Session established - Always On"(Figure- default page5). does this mean that our router will be connected to net even if we shutdown our computer and leave the router on? will this lead to wastage of bandwidth or someone hacking my account when i my computer is shutdown?
    please help.
    thanks in advance

yes!even if computer is off modem will keep the connection alive by transferring some data( few KB's).however it is recommended that you restart the modem at 2:05AM & 7:55AM because bsnl billing software counts such data transfer as billable which begins before 2AM & end after 8AM & since modem keeps the connection alive bsnl billing software thinks that your session started from,say,9PM when you start download at 2AM without rebooting the modem.also change the default admin password of modem or else anyone can easily enter your modem settings & get your bsnl username/password.

    thank you whitestar_999,

i will follow your tip. but can't we change the setting to 'On Demand' or to 'Manual' from 'always on'? in the pppoe connection setup page5.

i'll try out that myself and will post the experience.

Again one more doubt. if the connection left at always on option and for some reason the connection breaks. will the downloads that were being done also stop?

it depends on sites.some sites will continue the downloading with a 1-2 seconds or even 5-6seconds break.some will stop with even a 1 second break.
