    Default DLink GLB-502T problems

I just bought a new D-Link GLB-502T ADSL modem for use with my BSNL Dataone connection. I configured it to autodial as per instructions given on various sites and it connected properly.

However there are 2 problems neither of which I faced with my Huawei MT841.

    1) The internet keeps disconnecting and connecting itself every one minute. I never faced this problem with the Huawei modem. What can I do about this? Its hardly usable coz it works for one minute, then disconnects and takes another 30 seconds to find the link and connect itself.

    2) The ports on utorrent always show blocked. I know there is probably some way to configure it to open a certain port but on the MT841 all ports were always open and the port status on utorrent was always green no matter which port I used. Can the DLink be configured to work that way?

in bridge mode you use windows to connect to net after turning on the modem while in pppoe mode your bsnl username/password is stored inside modem & you are connected by just turning on the modem.in bridge mode all ports are open & all traffic comes directly to computer so no need to port forward whereas in pppoe mode you have to configure port forwarding to use torrents.

I guess I'm using PPPOE mode. Perhaps I should try using bridged mode. Can you please give a link or instructions to configure the 502T in bridged mode for BSNL.

    Thanks for the help.

i don't have this modem but the basic configuration settings are same for any modem.go to connection settings & edit the connection which is pppoe in your case.just select type of connection/protocol as bridging instead of pppoe & leave the rest of settings unchanged.after that use windows network wizard to make a connection to connect to net. you will be asked for your bsnl username/password & after that it will create an icon on desktop & network places & double clicking on that icon will show a window in which you enter your bsnl username/password to connect.
