I would like like to know, if i am connected to the broadband but not browsing, then what would be normally the bandwidth usage per hour. I have disabled all automatic updates.

well i dont think it would be so much.. cause 2mb per hour would be approx 50mb a day.. which is 1.5gb a month.. i have a server running 24/7 using bsnl connection and im sure it wouldnt take so much.. probably a few KB per hr..

mm.. might be u r correct.. in the past i got only 100kb per hr if i didnt use the net.. but now... if im not using it.. still.. some .5kB per sec is getting logged.... i think it might be due to my system problem..

anyhow.... keeping the modem always ON is not recommended... it wont give any positive or negative thing.. but still.. the modem's life may be get affected...

well.. its been ON since years.. ever since i got my modem.. i require having it ON for various purposes.no problems so far whatsoever..you can never trust these bsnl modems ..if something goes wrong i'll probably get a dlink or netgear ..i dont think it will affect the life of the modem although everybody keeps saying that..so far from my experience its not causing any problem at all..lets just hope for the best!!
