Thread: Is it Safe to use BitTorrent

Hi Friends,
I have a query to ask. Is it safe to use BitTorrent. By safe i mean in terms of Trojans, Viruses, legal actions for copyright infringement, etc.

Please pour in your suggestions...

as far as i have used p2p clients nothing has gone wrong uptil now ...you just have to be careful for what you are downloading ...for eg:there is a software that you its around 500mb and the posted torrents are stating it 120mb or 250mb besides they are not compressed so it may be possible that it may contain viruses or trojans as it is a fake.....so better be careful

always read the comments before you download the torrent.

keygen and patches must be downloaded carefully.

Torrents are safe for movies, songs, etc. (basically media and information files). Stay away from software, keygens, patches, cracks/hacks, etc.

yes.. i also faced this problem in the beginning stage... scan a file once u download it from torrent...

You should dowload software from their authorized web sites. If the software is to be paid for (even shareware software should be paid for), then buy it.

I won't subscribe to piracy. When you download software from an unknown source you carry a risk. 99% of the keygens/cracks/hacks have malware, browser hackers, and other such stuff.

Once your system is hijacked all your secret information is out in open. Note that previous history is also maintained, not only in cookies and temp files but also in the index.dat file.

sorry just4kix but i just can't agree with you on this.i have used cracks from the reputed/known teams & even they all made a statement in their release notes that they do it just for fun to which i completely agree.making such keygens/cracks is just like solving a puzzle.in fact using these keygens/cracks etc prompted me to learn some of the tricks/tools of this trade like opening exe's in deassembler to understand their codes & see how patching works.in fact creating a keygen requires a good knowledge of maths too as all keygens are based on mathematical formulas.these cracks/patches may looks like simple exe's but creating them requires a good knowledge of assembly language,reverse engineering & C/C++.even a software professional don't possess such knowledge & that is why there are no more than a handful of good crackers around.

OK. 99% may be a high number. It is just that all those which are posted on warez sites contain malware. It is difficult to find a genuine/safe crack.

there is no gurrantee of cracks but whatever sites you try always look for comments by other users.scan the cracks(which are usually small exe files) using online malware sites like these---

these sites uses 20-32 different anti virus engines so 1 or 2 results will always be positive but if all the major companies like nod32,kaspersky,norton,mcafee etc gives nothing & only some small & lesser known companies give warning then you can assume crack is safe.also look for cracks from known teams like---core,tsrh,fff,snd,paradox,icu,res,embrace etc

these are all sites or wat???

these are the names of the most popular & known teams who made cracks.paradox infact was the first team to release a working crack which would make any vista genuine by using a OEM key.microsoft has just now released a protection in their vista SP1 to stop this crack.
