    1. How is IP address assigned to your present computer, dynamic(IP assigned by modem) or static(IP assigned manually) ?

    2. Do you dial from your computer or you dont (in that case your modem does for you)?

If answers for above question is
    1. 'dynamic' and
    2. 'modem doing dial up process'

Then just plugin your new computer in USB port (use USB to Ethernet convertor)

If answers for above question is
    1. Static
    2. you dial from your computer
Then install same software in your new computer and do similar configuration, assign a Static IP of same network segment of your old computer

every bsnl modem is a router too & you can connect 2 computers to a simple type I modem using different interfaces like connect one computer using LAN & other using USB.if you have type IV modem then you get 4 LAN ports & wifi too & you can connect many more devices.

whitestar_999 is correct. Every ADSL modem has a built in router.

Your Siemens C2110 is a Type I router that has one LAN and one USB port. You can definitely connect two machines to this router. To connect to internet simultaneously, you must configure the modem/router in PPPoE mode (aka 'always on' mode).

If you wish to connect more than two machines then you will have to go in for other solutions such as multi-port switches or wireless routers/wireless access points.

    Not simultaneously means then
    1) Install modem usb driver from vendor CD
    2) Need to create a new dailup connection in your laptop
    - Open Control Panel > Network Connections
    - In the left column, click Create a new connection
    - A New Connection Wizard will show up, click Next
    - Choose Connect to the network at my workplace, then click Next
    - Choose Dial-up connection, then click Next
    - Then assign a name for your connection
    - Then insert the telephone number that you want to dial, then click Next
    - Click Finish to complete creating the new connection

New dialup connection will be created,
    - Double-click the dial-up connection you have created
    - For the User name, sepcify username;
    - For the Password, type your password
    - Then click Dial
    3) Instead of step 2, some vendors might give you dialup software along with CD, you can also install that software to dial.

If you want simultaneous connection, then need to configure modem for PPPOE.

alright anindya here it goes.......you just need your modem to switch to pppoe mode .........follow these steps

-open your web browser and type 192.168.1.1 and press enter

-enter username and password ...username:admin and password: password

-now you will see the routers configuration page go to WAN settings

-edit the first connection which states something similar to this bridge_0_35
    click edit

from there onwards post the screenshots here because i have a different router
so i cant help you precisely from here...

Anindya, You are stating two exactly opposite situations.

    Which one do you want?

If you want to surf with one one machine at a time then you must configure the router in bridge mode and create a dialer as per skap's post (post # 9).

If you wish to surf with both machines at the same time then you must create a PPPoE setup on the ADSL modem/router.

Please find help on both methods here.

    1. Bridge Setup
    2. PPPoE Setup
