periodic disconnection and system hanged

i am a new night downloader. i use dataone QUF to connect to the internet at 2AM. i notice every morning that my system is hanged. after restart the service records tell me that the internet connection had disconnected somewhere between 2:30AM and 3:00AM and has not connected therafter. aparently there are so many times the connection disconnects and connects back. the connection is not able to stay connected even for 1 hour. i use utorrent to download with scheduler. please tell me what to do....

Instead of enabling schedule, did you check it manually at 2 AM and try downloading files?

It seems like idle session timeout. But i wonder why your system gets hanged

are you connected to your pc via USB or LAN?

i have not tried that manually yet.

i have been observing this for the past 3 days (Since when i got the connection).
on the first day inspite of continuos disconnections, my connection sustained till 8AM.
on the second day the connection got disconnected at 2:35AM and got connected again
it got disconnected again at 3:02AM and never got connected again.
on the third day, i.e. today, the connected got disconnected at 2:17AM and never got connected again.

when i look at the system in the morning, the mouse can be moved but the system doesnt respond to any double click/right click. i have to forcefully shut down the computer by holding on to the power key and switch it on again.

i guess frequent disconnection is common in BSNL but it should reconnect immediately.

is it some kind of a virus?? i have got some virus in my system which has disabled my task mgr and folder options.

You first need to clean your system with very good Antivirus because viruses produce so much unexpected behaviour that we cant predict where exactly the problem lies.

your task manager is disabled ...................you are infected with a "nooh" worm it is a kind of worm which doesnt do anything except it disables the task manager,msconfig and folder options.............i have also faced this worm.....please install norton antivirus 2007 .........because in my opinion no other antivrus is able to detect it ...........it even cant detect it so how it can remove it ..........install norton........it will surely remove it i guarantee you.........
