Thread: BSNL Broadband Problem

anybody can tell whether BSNL Broadband is down today??
I have logged in to my dial-up for messaging??Always giving error 678
I stay in North Kolkata

sometimes it happens.it should be solved in a few hours.

Actually I got the connection last week .it worked fine speed was near to 170KBps for downloading. But just from evening the problem started.The link light is steady when i plug in the ADSL(telephone) jack.But when I Click on Broadband Icon it says :Connecting through Wanport(PPPoE) and this continues with error 678. Dont know what to do.

as i said it sometimes happens when bsnl servers are either too busy or some technical error.should be corrected in few hours ot at most a day.

Well it happens because these days BSNL is behind expanding their network of broadband connections.Hence they are behind giving away connections despite of ensuring that whether they have the capacity to handle so many connections simultaneously.
It all depends on their server capacities to handle connections.They have given connections more then the capacities of their servers.Hence when many a times u try to connect it gives an error 768 saying that the remote computer did not respond.Thats because those servers get overloaded and then they run out of ports to server the incoming connections.
This info was provided to me by a BSNL BB Center person who looks after all these ports distribution business.I could reach to him only after arguing a lot many more officials.

All that official could do is assure me that the connections will be fine as soon as the capacity of the servers gets expanded.
But since then i didnt have such a complaint till date.
So what u can do is get the the BB center of ur area and search out for the problem.Cos for 768 we cant do anything from out terminal cos for this problem its just a dumb terminal.
