As gardencityboy said they may be using Home500 or Home 500c plan which has bandwidth upto 2mbps which implies that your maximum download speed will be 256KB/s............which is really good...........and not to mentioning that home 250 plan is also having bandwidth upto 2mbps.

There are many BSNL plans available (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.). Check them out.

You should select a plan that is best suited for your needs. You must choose between high speed/limited usage or lower speed/unlimited usage. Your current plan is an unlimited plan that allows infinite downloading @ 256 kbps. You can opt for a high speed plan such as Home 500 C or Home 500 C+ but then you must relagate all heavy downloads during the free night time period; otherwise you will end up with a hefty bill.

    Smile Don't fear!!!

    Hi Roh123,

In unltd 256 Kbps connection, what you are getting right now is a good speed >> 30KBPS = 30 * 8 = 240 Kbps which is a pretty good speed. The other users in your neighbourhood might be in other usage based plans.

    Thanks,

Hi guys...thanks for all da help. I spoke to the bsnl guys and they were of the opnion that even with a 256k unlimited plan ur due to get speeds of upto 200k with download but not upto 2 mbps. SO now am advised by them to shift to 512k home plan unlimited ...............

Fair enough u think? or they are just bull shitting?

    Exclamation Hi roh123

    Hi rosh123,

Opt to 512 Kbps speed plan only if you require more speed that 256 Kbps speed. Or lese it would be mere wasteage of hard earned money!!!

    Thx,

    Roh,

U mean to say that u r getting only 30 Kbps?? Thats mere slow speed. becuase if its 30 KBps its 240 Kbps as i mentioned earlier... Then it means there's something crappy about the backend or the port in which ur connection is configured. Ask them to chek theier backend first

    Thx,
    Ez

    Hi,

Downloading a 700 MB file in an hour means, ur friends have opted for the 2Mbps plan with which u can download much faster. 'am having athe same unlimited plan which gives me 270 Kbps on an average. U r confused witht he Kilo Bytes and kilo bits. KB is kilo Btes and Kb is Kilo bits. The calcualtion is simple 1 KB = 8 Kb. Hence 30 KB = 240 Kb which is a good speed in ur connection. Hence if you want to have good speed as u've mentioned u can opt for a usage plan where u can dowanload stuffs faster with a lesser rent that the current plan but whill be charged 0.80 paise for 1 Mb after ur free data usage gets completed.

    Thx,
    Ez
