    Unhappy 192.168.1.1 doesn't open!

Hi, I wanted to post some settings of the modem page, since every time I connect, I get a message that this connection has limited or no connectivity. But when I type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar, whether it is Opera or Firefox, it says the page cannot be displayed (the type of message that comes when there is no connection to the server). At this time, sites open smoothly, the net is working fine, only the modem page doesnt open.
I ran ipconfig /all; it shows nothing in the values for default gateway, i.e., it shows it as this:

    Subnet Mask................................: 255.255.0.0
    Default Gateway...........................:

One or two days ago, I had disabled Netbios, at present it shows:

    NetBIOS over Tcpip.......................: Disabled

I run the modem in the other mode now, in which the username and password are stored in the computer, and after switching on the modem, I manually press the connect button.

So how do I get it working again?

PS: The modem keeps restarting thread that I had started > that problem is still there, but I have noticed that every time I start the modem, for about ten or fifteen minutes it keeps reconnecting, and then it stabilizes, and then doesn't reconnect; is there something like the modem warming up and then working properly? (Never heard of it before) Seems like my modem has had it...

    Thanks...

Unhappy What the hell is this?

    Just found this:

BSNL Gujarat Website Hacked - BSNL Gujarat website hacked by Chinese Hackers

By the way, if I go to the network connections, and go into its properties, and go into the properties of Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and make it as "Use the following IP address" and there, specify a default gateway, then the 192.168.1.1 page opens, but as soon as I change it back to "Obtain an IP address automatically", the problem comes back.

It looks like to me that your DHCP server is disabled from your modem..........enable that........and if you are having problems with assigning automatic IP address then simply type the manual one .......which you have stated is working fine..leave it as it is..

    Default Yo!

Alright, I went and changed the settings to "Use the following IP address" and specified the Default Gateway; then I went and enabled the DHCP server (which was showing as disabled), and applied the settings, and after this, I again switched back to "Obtain an IP address automatically", and now, the 192.168.1.1 page opens! So the DHCP thing solved the problem. If you have time, maybe you could tell me in short what it is. And in the modem page, it shows the lease time as one week, is that alright?

    Thanks a lot!

usually lease time represents the time for which a particular IP address is allotted but it doesn't matter if you are connecting only 1 computer to modem with dhcp enabled.sometimes computer LAN settings get corrupted/resetted & if dhcp is not enabled in modem/router it will take some random IP or nothing as default gateway.
