"Unlimited" means it does not count in your usage limit - so yes, it is free.

For safety sake, you should download between 2:05 am to 7:55 am so that any chance of overlap or non-synchronization with BSNL clocks is ruled out.

    Default I Accept

    I Accept Your Saying
But When I Check My Account Usage There Is A Seperate Table For Usage Between 2am - 8am. It Shows How Much I Have Downloaded Between 2-8
    Why Is This So?

by the way just make sure that you disconnect your modem after 2 am and use and again disconnect before 8 am so that this will be count in the free hours other wise they will count it as charged and then u will have to fight it with BSNL

    Default Overbill in april 2008

    Hi,

I am using Bsnl 500 combo plan in my home. For the past two months,my bill amount was only 700.But this time my internet bill amount was Rs 5000.I called to local bsnl office. They asked me to give a complaint form.My query is If i give the application can i see what are all the webpages i have seen or downloaded for the past 1 month?

But for sure we haven't use tht much in this month
Please reply as soon as possible.Because my due date is going to be over.Kids in my home used to see cartoons and play games in internet and some times we use You tube 2 see small videos. How many mb will take 2 see a 9 minutes video in youtube. Will it be the reason for the increase in Bill amount?
    Please reply.Thanks in advance.

    Hi Toms
I Don't Know What Is The Downlaod Rate Of Home 500 Combo. If You Are A Portal User Then Check Your Account Usage. You Will Find There The Total Downlaoding In The April Month Just Check It Out.
And As You Have Asked Me "How Much MB It Will Take To Watch A Nine Minutes Video"
It Will Take Nearly 20-21 MB.Playing On Internet Might Be The Reason For The Overbill.

just search the forum and you will find many solution

    1. schedule your http downloads(normal downloads) with a good download manager like "Internet download manager" to start and stop downloads at specific times, say from 2:10-7:50(for plans with 2-8 free).

    2. Use utorrent (has inbuilt scheduler) to download torrents,

    3. Schedule in windows scheduler for, utorrent to start at, suppose 2:10

    4. Use some auto-shutdown software like "power shutdown" to restart your pc at 2:00(so that modem automatically gets disconnected at 2:00).

power shutdown can do the following:

    a. disconnect you modem at specific time
    b. reboot your pc at specific time
    c. shutdown your pc at specific time and many more

    5. automate your windows logon so that you should be able to start downloading only by turning on your pc.(use "tweaks ui" its a tool).

    6. sync your pc time with a good time server,or manually with internet time, watch your download details in bbservice.bsnl.in to check if your downloads are at the same time as shown there(indirectly checking that BSNL server is in sync with your PC or not)

    7. use your BIOS RTC alarm(if available in your BIOS),to start your PC from total shutdown state,so that you won't have to wake up to 2:00 to start your PC.

    8. Schedule power shutdown to diconnect your modem at 7:50,your can shedule more than one modem disconnection schedules to stay disconnected as your modem tries to connect automatically, better schedule to shutdown your PC at around 7:50.

9.keep your default BSNL connection at start up sothat it connects automatically when you login.(uncheck the box in your BSNL connection properties which says prompt for password, then it'd automatically connect without confirmation, there is auto redial in Internet download manager.

    so now you have

pc autostart + auto log in + automatic connection to internet + automatic scheduled downloads + autoshutdown = completely automated downloads at night.

only thing you, everything else is automatic.
have to do is queue your downloads in day time and keep your pc power cord plugged in at night

    Happy downloading and happy nights.

EDGE is not available everywhere so people has to depend on alternatives. Plus there are other things to consider such as signal strength. Stray away from tower and you get aweful speeds.

@ India Broadband Forum - View Profile: rajit49 If u are a download freak then Home 500 plan will suffice. U get raw 2048kbps and unlimited night time free usage from 2am to 8am. Now nothing can beat since, since UL of BSNL is just 256kbps.

Yes, but the power cable should be plugged in

    Sorry for the delayed.

Get into the BIOS, look for "RTC alarm" under APM or power management.
If you have it in BIOS then enable it, and there you are.Set the time option given below RTC alarm and sleep. The computer will turn on(from total shutdown state) at exactly the same time.
Check the the post at link given below,it might look very long but actually its easy and can save you from downloading anything manually, for days even weeks.Any more queries; PM me as I am not coming here very often now a days.

Definitely buddy. I am a BSNl user from the past 3 years. U can download whatever u want. It is free of cost. Be cautious you star your download after 2:05 and try to close it before 7:55. If the speed is good u can download upto 2gb per day.
