    Dude...
why dont u use Azureus bit torrent client.. its much more user friendly then utorrent... u dont even need to open ports in ur XP firewall Azureus will do it for u... all u need to do is just select "unblock" when the firewall menu pops up when u first use Azureus.. then using tools menu in Azureus select the port u want the Azureus to use and ur all set to go....

    If DHCP is enabled:

    a) PC's TCP/IP properties are set to automatic: Router will give the first available IP address to the machine from the subnet

b)If you have given a hard coded IP address to your PC's then that TCP/IP address will be given to the PC.

    Hi raj

with Azureus bit torrent client .....

I am getting download speeds of around 250-350 KB/s during night time (after 2.00 AM) with Rs.500 plan from BSNL WITH UPLOAD speed set at 20 KB/s
I also tried to check the speeds with UL750 Plan of BSNL and the download spped is 30-35 KB/s round the clock WITH UPLOAD speed set at 20 KB/s

To get good download speeds we have to match the upload speeds.. you have to play a bit to know the correct upload speeds to maxamise your download speeds...

There are two versions of ut300r2u... is it the utstarcom one? use this online port scanner to check if ports are forwarded properly Online Port Scanner | Port Scan | Port Scanning | Portscan Tool also ensure you have opened the same port in windows firewall

HI, The modem that i use if Utstarcom one. I Use both Azureus as well as Utorrent. I infact wanted to test which is better, hence i select Kaspersky antivirus v7 with decent seeds in both torrent clients. utorrent showed that No Incomming connection (yellow mark at the bottom) and gave me 45-50 KBPS max. Azureus started slowly and gradually went upto 90KPBs , but averaged around 50 KBPS. I did not change any settings except as suggested by Masula, i changes upload to 20 k and download to 0.

One more doubt is that, if i automate the reboot process of PC alone (not the modem) after 2am , will it be safe? will it appear in unbilled only?

OK, i read from this forum that if i keep the modem ON without surfing or anything else, still some data transfer will happen... is it true? any precautionary measures on thi? (i have windows update switched off and antivirus update is kept manual--- anything else apart from this?)

you need to switch off updates of softwares installed in your machine...say real player, acrobat softs and others....

Delete your temp internet files and cookies often, because adwares,
spywares do background remote server contact though its not bandwidth consuming one
