you should be able to browse when you connect computer and modem. otherwise do you need to dial from your computer?

Hi skap,
Thanks, but I didn't quite get what you meant by ""dial from ... computer". Did you mean the Broadband Connection Window which is required in Windows OS to connect to the Internet? If that's what you meant then I'm unable to get this window in Linux.

ask superprash2003,he is a ubuntu user.though the easiest way to do this is set up your modem in pppoe mode in which you get connected by just turning on the modem.if you can configure the TCP/IP properties in linux then open modem configuration page 192.168.1.1 & change the connection type from bridge to pppoe if not already there.

Thanks,

You see, the command in Ubuntu is pppoeconf, but this is an unknown command in OpenSUSE. Should I still send a message to super#2003?

Try configuring using Yast. Select your network devices and click on DSL to create a broadband connection.

Hi,
Seems that I have been able to get connected to net in Linux. Right now I'm composing this post from OpenSUSE. I just cannot recollect the exact steps but its no Rocket Science. It was similar to that in Windows. Anyway thanks to all members.

this should help Prashanth Speaks-Technology and Life: How to Configure Bridged Mode In Linux - pppoeconf .. firstly ensure that you are able to ping your router.. then try this.. in your terminal type ping 192.168.1.1 .. if it successfully pings then you could try that link, if not its a waste... if you are unable to ping router.. then post output of ifconfig
