    Question BSNL Home 500 plan bill

    I have taken a new BSNL broadband connection 2 months back. The first month bill had the charges for the modem, etc. , which is okay.

    The second month bill had a total of Rs. 764/-, which is
    BroandBand Charge - Rs 500/-
    plus
    Fixed monthly charges - Rs 180/-
    plus
    Taxes - Rs 84/-

    I checked my broadband usage and it is 800MB, less than the limit of 2GB. I can hence understand the charges of Rs 500/-, which is as per my plan. But why am I getting a fixed monthly charge of Rs 180/- ? Is it for the landline phone ? I have never made a call from the landline, and dont intend to use it too.

    Is this billing expected ? Can I avoid this extra Rs 180/- ?

    BSNL broadband connection can not be given without a landline phone connection no matter you plan to use it or not.Rs.180 is the charge for this landline connection.you will get a fixed no.of free calls in this Rs.180 so my suggestion is use it.in any case you have to pay for the landline separately from broadband.check at bsnl site for the no.of free calls you got.

    That 180 rs are of your landline rent (please correct me if i am wrong) you can easily overcome that by opting a plan which waives off this amount.you can opt for home 500C+ which will do the job.......but in this case there will be no free calls.

    I am on UL750 Plus plan so there is no rent charge coming in my bill only the taxes and call charges

    Question

    Thanks for your replies. Yes, I guess the Rs 180/- is for the landline.

    However, the following link in BSNL broandband website shows that, for both 500 and 500C+, the fixed monthly charges should be zero.

    http://http://www.bsnl.co.in/service/dataone_tariff.htm.

    I am not sure if it is a mistake in the website or in the billing, or in my understanding.

    There are three plans:

    a) Home 500
    b) Home 500 C (C stands for Combo)
    c) Home 500 C+

    Fixed landline rental is not applied for (b) and (c) but chargeable for (a). You are on plan (a) and hence you are being charged for the same. There is nothing wrong about the bill. You should request for Home 500 C or Home 500 C+ to get a waiver.

    Question

    Thanks a lot. I just realized the same thing. The only side effect of this is that the download limit will come down from 2.5Gb to 1.5Gb, but that is okay for me.

    What should I do to change the plan from 500 to 500C ? How long does it take to get it done ?

    Write a application for a plan change and submit it in your local exchange ...
    your plan will converted to the other one at the end of the billing cycle

    Give correct name of tariff plan.
    Confirm you did not pay NOV bill . for NEW telephone and BB connection.
    ( No payment made except any ADVANCE paid )
    You should not have any query for telephone charges , i hope.
    Installation Charges telephone_____________
    Security deposit for calls std etc __________
    Installation charges _____________( FREE ?)
    Modem cost or rent ______________
    Modem if on rent security Deposit ______________
    Add these to your calculations.
    Presume your bill for Dec to March no excess BB load usage.

    Unhappy home combo500

    ok iam using home combo 500 plan in which night usage allowed i calculate the consolidated bill as per u said same after calculating in same manner rs 1700 apx difference comes as first of all AO doest deducte oct month balance credit of 339 and in feb month 653 usage charge shown for unlimited plan 750 + ul also in usage chart from selfcare for that month nearly 283 shown on 28 feb and in same month usage chart 31 jan nearly 354 rs charges also shown slightly misconfused as 31 jan charges already shown in jan bill and on 28 feb 283 rs usage charge even in unlimited plan slightly mistake and third mistake is 250 rs installation charge of broadband as for new customer that was waived and fourth counting 661 rs april month bill when service discontinued
    means
    nov=250 broadband installation charge
    feb=653 usage charge even in this plan is 750 + ul
    april=661 charge service discontinued
    + 339 balance credit of advance payment in oct month
    total=1894 rs extra charge

    When I read your post first, , first reaction is to skip and see other forums ! and come back later to study in depth what is your problem.
    Then start reading your old posts etc , and decide whether to respond or not !
    Same way the staff at BSNL will react, and push your application to the bottom and take up more easy tasks!!.
