Default home 500 type 4 modem query

    hello friends
i am using home 500 scheme and wa3002g4 modem for my laptop and desktop .my query is when i use two comp at same time will the download speed will share between the comp or each will have the indepent download speed .i am bit confused and not able to make out correctly.
at the same time when i use torrents the downloads speed goes to 200kB but when i try to acces some web page it is not loading is this a common happening or some corrections have to be done ?

yes!download speed will be shared between computers.also using torrents will result in poor browsing.lower your upload rate to see if it helps.

as whitestar said your download/upload speed will be shared........for you another query there is a chance that you haven't entered the DNS servers if you are not able to browse any website.....

Note: if you haven;t entered the DNS servers you will not be able to open any website but all the direct downloads i.e. windows update and torrents will download hassle free.

DNS servers are........same as your gateway(in case of BSNL)
    i.e. 192.168.1.1

hmm..actually speaking it shouldnt be a problem with a 2mbps connection.I havent restricted any upload or download speed in my torrent client but still i am able to browse with no problems at all.It could be a DNS problem as player said .. try changing DNS servers..Opendns servers are better(208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220)

    friends
the dns id should be updated in the modem or in the comp network setting.

DNS setting must be configured on the modem/router only. Leave them to 'automatic' on the local PC's TCP/IP properties and they will be inherited from the router.

another advantage of using LINUX superprash2003.on XP unlimited or very high upload rate will result in poor or almost no browsing.to get rid of this you have to either limit your upload or install some traffic shaping software which will give priority to normal http traffic over torrents.
