    Unhappy Bit torrent problem

I have got a big problem .I actually changed the plan from 250 to 500c+
so that i can schedule to download bittorrents during night as it is unlimited
    from 2 to 8 am.
but the prob i am facing is that it gets disconnected not frequently
by disconnected here i meant that the light in dsl and internet of router disappears.
i searched about this in google and what i found as the possible solutions for this are 1)reduce the no of max connections in bittorrent settings
also as mentioned in the post i changed the dns server address in tcp/ip settings.
but still i am facing the old problem
in all days i faced the same prob. but browsing was not problematic
i have enabled windows firewall and added the port and bittorent to exceptions.also i changed the max no of connections to 35 using xp antispy
ie;patched tcpip.sys as found in the website to help increase bittorrent speed
can anyone suggest one solution for this friends.i am very much worried about this

to ensure that your port is forwarded properly .. try this online scanner Online Port Scanner | Port Scan | Port Scanning | Portscan Tool

    disable DTH.
i had the same problem. even if u have global max connections as 100 with dth enabled it will stop.
i disabled DTH and now have increased global max connections to 380 and yet i am not disconnected.

i don't know whether anyone have dth enabled?

the prob of losing conncetions is less but still its going
also will disabling dth decrease speed
also will increaing no of global connections and .net half open improve downloading speed?

i don't think disabling dth will lower speed as long as u have seeders.
increasing max half open connections didn't cause much speed improvement for me. but u can try it. but first u need to patch if u r using xp sp2.
increasing global connections will not cause much change in speed unless your total seed+ peer touches the global max limit.
incresing global connections could freeze probably your router. for me increasing beyond 400 caused freezing of router.
another factor of slow speeds might be the number of hash fails.
i don't know much but i found these by searching various faqs and forums.

guys u havn't answered my question
what is the global max connection u have?
    do u have dth enabled?
could u post the preferred settings for bsnl users?

is there any chance of increasing speed for torrents when already the port has been confirmed to be open using dmz host method and then changing ppoe to bridge method?

hey superprash a small info you left out in your blog for changing pppoe mode to bridge mode.
once you change to bridge mode in order to access 192.168.1.1 you need to change local area connection to manually specify ip address in properties and give
    ipaddress 192.168.1.2
    subnet mask 225.225.225.0
    getaway 192.168.1.1

in most cases DHCP is ON by default and in most cases it is set to Automatically Assign IP address in the LAN properties.. so i had left it like that in order to reduce steps and complications .Hence the router will give the ip to the pc automatically

    i don't understand
only in pppoe mode i am able to access 192.168.1.1
but after i changed to bridge mode(as per your blog) i am not able to access it and i got limited or no connectivity for local area connection. and only after i changed to manually ip address( this advice also u gave me in another post) i can access 192.168.1.1 and the limited connectivity symbol goes away.

i don't know much so i just want to know these simple facts. so please don't mind if my questions are silly.

thats strange...Ensure that DHCP is enabled in your modem...also when you set it to automatically assign ip in local area connection properties.. ensure that you either reboot your pc or disable and enable your Local area connection adapter.. or click on the renew ip button..that usually does the trick

it was enabled in pppoe mode(i checked through ipconfig) but in bridge mode ipconfig shows that dchp is disabled. i didn't change anything.

go to http://192.168.1.1 you should find a DHCP tab .. see if dhcp is enabled and a range is set
